Saranac Big Moose Ale is an American Pale Ale with a kick. The medium-bodied malt sweetness is balanced by a nice crisp bitterness from hand selected centennial and cascade hops. Look for a vibrant citrusy hop aroma that will leave you craving another swig!

This is a nice, solid, pale ale. Hard to the nose with the hop/malt combo the distinct flavorful cirtus intrusion settles nicely within reason. This is a solid pale ale.

12 ounce bottle from the winter sampler. Pours a clear amber color with a moderate head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of leafy and slightly herbal hops with a nutty maltiness. Taste is bitter herbal and spicy hops. Medium bodied. Decent and fairly bland.

Pours a light amber with a white head. Aroma of light hops and a bit of malt. Flavor is a small hit of hoppy bitterness, toasted and caramel malts.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7879) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 29, 2009
One of Saranac’s best new beers in a long time. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-amber color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was sweet grapefruit, pine and pineapple. The flavor was sweetish, tart and bitter with notes of pineapple, grapefruit and a hint of caramel. The finish was long, sweet and had a fruit cocktail element. Medium body. Very nice.

Bottle from sample pack. Pours copper colored, clear, with medium white head. Aroma is hoppy, grapefruit, citrus, some toasted malt. Flavor is similar, very tasty and hoppy. Nice beer.

Pours a clear honey color. Aroma of yeast and grain. Taste is slightly bitter with a strong grain and yeast. Not that good.

!2 oz bottle from a gift box. Not sure why this isn’t rated any better. Very nice pour and color. Head was creamy thick. Smells of graprfuit, pine, and sweet malt. The taste is piney, then fades to a sugary grapefruit, and goes to a spruce-like finish. Greatly balanced. Just as good as any IPA. Nice drinkability, and nice warmth.

Palidor19 (3189) - Brandon, Florida, USA - NOV 24, 2009
this is not much to this beer, while its got a decent look and pour, the flavor is thin an d bland. there is some piny hops, there is no malts to complement it.

MrBeerFanatic (1064) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - NOV 23, 2009
Pours medium bubbly bodied amber with a foamy white head. Aromas of floral, little pine, citrus hops, caramel, slight bread and toasty malts. Flavors of light grass, slight caramel, slight pine hops, and slight toffee. Aromas dont flow through to the flavors. Disappointing....

backyard acquisition. Not much aroma. Looks nice. Starts out with a taste that intrigues and excites but quickly falls short of the finish line. Have had some good saranacs but sadly this was not one of them
