On a cold winter’s night, black bears can be found hiding in the Adirondacks to keep warm, while you’re enjoying a beer by the fire. Saranac Black Diamond Bock is a rich malty beer, brewed with traditional German malts and hops then cold fermented and lagered for a smooth malty taste. This brew is appropriate for hibernating wherever you may be. Cheers!

Rciesla (5607) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - JUN 14, 2009
Bottle. Pours a ruby brune body with an off white head. Malty caramel with hints of vanilla and a light hop bitterness. Some hints of cherry and nuts. Not bad.

hellbilly (3306) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - MAY 29, 2009
pours a slightly hazy bright copper color with a short lived off white head.

the smell is rather uninteresting... sweet and grainy with some dirt and metal.

the flavor is made up mostly by sweet graininess... golden raisins, faint chocolate, nuttiness and some lager yeast with a surprisingly dry spicy finish.

it is medium bodied and would be fairly easy to drink if it weren’t for the abundance of sugar and its one dimensional-ism. 5/3/6/3/11/2.8

12 oz. thanks for the trade Butters. Clear dirty copper with a tall, lasting meringue cap. Lots of sticky lace left behind. Spicy nut, earthy chocolate and a hint of sour berry in the aroma. The flavor is molasses blended with light tart berry, funky chocolate, gunmetal and toasted grain. Medium body is smooth with light carbonation, and finishes grainy-dry. Very nice.

mcox90 (2145) - Wilton, New Hampshire, USA - NOV 27, 2008
12 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a good 3/4" off white head. Nose is chocolate, malts and a hop or 2 in the background. Palate is medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Flavor was a nice mix of caramel, semi-sweet chocolate, malts, barley, all with a touch of hop bitterness.

BeerHawk (1811) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - OCT 5, 2008
Bottle from trade with Butters. Poured brown with a creamy off-white head that left light lacing. Aromas of milk chocolate, nut, and a light hop backing. The flavor has nuts, roasty malts, and a light hop undertone. Medium body that is sweet in the beginning and ends bitter.

jimhilt (2629) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - SEP 8, 2008
Pours a three finger white head that fades slowly to a thin layer, leaving a good lace. Clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Malty nose. Flavor is semi sweet caramel with some late hop bitterness. $1.33 for a 12oz bottle from Manchester Wine and Liquors Manchester, CT.

JPDIPSO (6293) - Wauwatosa, USA - AUG 30, 2008
A copper color with a very ruddy complexion. Smaller, but stable creamy, beige head. Simple, sweet, toasted almonds and caramel scents. Mildly toasted malt, touch of vanilla, bits of apricot and earthy cherrywood in the flavors. Dry, somewhat woody finish and linger. Not much malt depth. This one help the myth of bocks being from the bottom/cleaning of the barrels.
