COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saranac Caramel Porter is a robust, flavorful porter reminiscent of a by-gone era. True to brewing tradition, we've used dark caramel malt as well as Fuggles & East Kent Goldings hops for a smooth, yet slightly bitter, roasted flavor. Look for hints of real caramel used in brewing this delicious brew. Enjoy.

On the red side of black, average off white head. Sweet caramelly nose. Taste is unique, palate is full of caramel, some roasty notes and a sharp somewhat sticky finish that stays with you, the tastes are too unbalanced. needs some work.

The aroma tells you right away the caramel is there. Very interesting flavor. Has the flavor notes of Bass or Fuller's London Pride, but with a more pronounced finish. Not much of a head. Mouthfeel is somewhat hard. Has a touch of hop sharpness to smooth out the potential of cloyingness. A tasty little beer for only $3.85 a six.

One sniff and you'll know the caramel's in there. One sip will remove even St. Thomas's doubts. The problem is that the caramel is a little overpowering -- the impression is of a mouthfull of candies.

I was disappointed. Guess I expected more (or less). Too much caramel and not enough balance. Nice try though. Super cold I bet it would taste better.

The first beer i legally bought at the beer distributor. One word description for it, UNIQUE. Very apparent caramel aroma and taste.

Even though I thought this beer seemed well-made, it was much too sweet. It should've said 'for dessert purposes only' on the side of the bottle.
