COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saranac Caramel Porter is a robust, flavorful porter reminiscent of a by-gone era. True to brewing tradition, we've used dark caramel malt as well as Fuggles & East Kent Goldings hops for a smooth, yet slightly bitter, roasted flavor. Look for hints of real caramel used in brewing this delicious brew. Enjoy.

16th August 2008. Clear dark brown beer. Pronounced toffee caramel - loud and clear! Not that sweet and even a little sourness coming through at the end. Not a subtle beer, does what it says on the label, caramel and more caramel. Drinkable though!

Burgundy-brown colour. Large bubbles. No head. Aroma of caramel, vanilla and what I imagine to be bile. Really unappetizing. Very sweet flavour with lots of vanilla and the taste of artificial awfulness.

This beer is just about pure caramel. I love it! Black pour. Nose and taste is overpowering caramel. Some light chocolate malts. Rated 12/20/2000

BOTTLE. Sweet aroma that matchs the name. Black color with large tan head. Flavor was good and sweet but not as good as the start. Good but would not be first choice in style.

Dogbrick (14390) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 30, 2008
Pours a dark brown color with a medium thick beige head that diminishes steadily. Caramel malt aroma with a light roasted character. Medium body with flavors of caramel, malt and charred marshmallow. The finish is sweet caramel and toffee with a short malty aftertaste. Overall this beer is one-dimensional and average, like most beers from this brewer.

2.5
Drake (14358) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 18, 2010
12 ounce bottle from Harris Teeter - Barracks, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear dark brown color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of pretty damn strong caramel notes, sweet and almost cloying, some butter and faint hops. The taste is faintly roasted malts, caramel, faint hops and a bitter finish. Medium bodied.

2.8
Lubiere (14352) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 18, 2004
Deep red copper with a strong caramel butterscotch DMS aroma. Vanilla too. Sweet caramel ice cream with diacetyl. Medium bodied.
