This beer is amazing for about three sips. It reminds me of what Homer Simpson’s "patented space-age moonwaffles" would have tasted like if they’d been brewed. It really really hurts to try to finish one of these. The second one will probably make you lose a foot to diabetes. ant880 (39) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - JAN 20, 2009
I know Saranac’s porters tend to be on the sweet side, but I really do enjoy them. Smell is huge caramel and the taste doesnt disappoint. Caramel comes across strong but not overwhelming. Again a bit on the sweet side but definitely worth trying. skorchsoul (36) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 29, 2006
3/12 of the winter variety pack. Aroma is definatly of caramel which smells great and has a diet cola look. tastes good with a nice, smooth after taste of caramel. oldpainless (34) - fort mill, South Carolina, USA - SEP 28, 2007
I agree w/ the extremeicon almost to the tee.
Good dessert beer! Definately not one that you could drink a bunch of.Just to sweet for this ones taste. plummdumb99 (34) - USA - JAN 17, 2002
Felt like I was drinking a 3 musketeers bar. Although good on the proper occasion

From a 12-oz bottle, the porter is dark brown with little head. The caramel smell is overpowering, but the first sips are more balanced with a bitter aftertaste that fades to sweet. The malt here is like butterscotch candy. Tastes great with almond chocolate bar. joeyp (30) - Alabama, USA - NOV 10, 2006
very thin white head. very dark amber.

First flavored porter I’ve ever had - an instant fan. A winter favorite now. It does, somewhat, have an artificial caramel feel and taste, but I don’t care - it tastes and feels right. It also certainly tastes like there’s a fine generic porter in under there, with the right touch of chocolate and roast malts. Just enough hop for the style. BeerMeDude (28) - USA - DEC 21, 2006
12 oz. bottle into a chilled pint glass. I got this beer from the winter pack and saved it till the end with high hopes. I know this is a dangerous move but I was very pleased with this beer. It pours a deep red-brown with an aroma of caramel and malt. The taste is delicious, full flavored with plenty of caramel and nut. I recommend this selection. Too light of a body. Definitely can taste the caramel notes which I do like. A ad bit too sweet. Great idea but certainly not perfected.
