The smell hit me as I was pouring it, an artificial sickeningly sweet smell, like Oompa-Loompa barf, well, probably not THAT bad (not that I know what that smells like, who knows, might not be too bad) . Looks nice, a clear Mahogany color with a beige head. But that cloying scent is tough to get past. I’m not digging the taste either, initially very candy-ish, some hints of dark chocolate and coffee but it is buried behind this sticky sweet, funkiness. I appreciate the effort and like what they were trying to do, but it doesn’t work for me. I’m giving the second bottle away.

I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours a red and brown color with an off-white head and little lacing. It doesn’t really look like a porter. The aroma is artificial caramel. The nose also is dominated by caramel and light roast. Surprisingly, caramel is not the overwhelming initial flavor, it’s more burnt toast and vanilla. This is another beer that benefits from aeration and being served closer to room temperature than ice cold. The caramel emerges, mixing with traditional porter bitterness that carries a hint of coffee.
But this beer has a very light body that undermines the flavor profile. Sure, it’s easily drinkable, but in a market with a lot of porters, it doesn’t separate itself.
This bottled brew from a grocery store was served at a cool temperature and poured a head of foamy finely sized light tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a typically carbonated body semi-transparent light cola brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The weak aroma was floral and malty. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish malty aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of semi-sweet brown malt caramel and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

A little thin but it has a really pleasant aroma & a decent taste. Pours about black w/ a foamy tan head & spotty lacing. The aroma is of caramel & malt. The flavor also has caramel & a hint of traditional porter bitterness. It’s a bit on the watery side but is quite drinkable. Not too bad. It is a sweeter style porter, must be the caramel and sugars. Scent has a spiced rum to it. Dark red Brown color but translucent. It has to be warm for the flavors to come out. If it is cold the flavors are gone. Flavor has some nutty and caramel, some fall warmth and makes me think of fallen leaves and campfires. Bottle pour into tulip glass. Aroma is strong caramel, also roasted malt. Appearance is dark mahogany with finger-width off-white head that quickly dissipates, fair lacing, and no sparkle. Taste is strong, rich, dark caramel with moderate sweetness balanced with mild bitter finish. Palate is medium bodied with thin texture, average to lively carbonation and dry finish. Overall, the caramel is so strong that it drowns out any other flavors. Not bad, but not subtle either.
