Very refreshing. Noble hops shine! Tasty with a steak or brat! A good beer to get someone into new brews!

Throwback can, clear yella beer with a tall ice cream white head. Powdery, sweet malt, lager aroma. Rather bland, sweetish, not bitter. Light body, loses carbonation. Harris Teeter, Boone, NC.

12 ounce bottle from the sampler case. Nothing too exciting here --- just a pretty run-of-the-mill average beer from Saranac.

(12oz bottle) AROMA: light biscuit, paper, some nuttiness, light malt and toffee. APPEARANCE: light-medium straw yellow, clear, thin white head TASTE: supper soft malt, light wheat, touch of lightly browned toast, bread crust.. PALATE: light, some sparkle upfront, soft, a little creamy OVERALL: quite soft and simple, a smooth soft slightly sophisticated lager, better than most mass produced lagers, quite drinkable but nothing too extra special.

The body has a bright golden color with very good clarity and lots of beautiful carbonation. It produces a nice two finger tall head which slowly settles down to a thin cap that make some slick spotty lace on the glass. Its aroma is light and manages a slight straw or dry hay like aroma with just the lightest kiss of hops. The flavor has a simple and fairly clean white bready malt with light sweetness and a slight fruitiness off in the distance. Hop flavor adds just enough bitterness and grassy/leafy notes for balance. Its palate is light bodied and very refreshing with nice bubblely carbonation which is in good balance. Overall it was a nice easy drinking and refreshing beer.

Not a bad offering from a mediocre brewery. Grassy, light sweetness, some subtle lemoniness.

355 ML bottle in the USA. Very pleasant, but simple. Above average for the brewer I’d say. Nice color, average head; good caramel note in the aroma; clean, sweet, crisp initial taste which fades and becomes rather boring at the end. Still average.

Originally reviewed: 10/17/09. Poured into my pilsner glass. Pours a clear bubbly light gold with a big white capper on top. Great retention; leaves some spotty lacing. Smells of grassy hops, sour lemon zest, and some grains. The mouth is crisp and bubbly, but still smooth. Flavors of mild bitter hops, fresh greens, and tart fruits on the finish. This is decent. A great refresher that went very well with my pizza. "Saranac" has done it again. I have yet to find one of their brews that I wouldn’t have again.

Does not taste like a true Helles but as far as Premium Lagers go, its not bad, smooth and easy to drink.
