Saranac Lemon Ginger is a limited edition small batch brew from our "High Peaks" series, a line of beers that are bigger, more complex and flavorful. Brewed as a traditional Belgian-style Saison, we use lemon peel and ginger to create a unique twist, pushing the Saison stle to a new level. We start with wheat malt and German Saphir, U.S. Vanguard & Czech Saaz hops. We then ferment with traditional Belgian yeast which produces a fruity and estery aroma, perfectly complementing the lemon peel and ginger. Look for lemon citrus, ginger spice and a hop nose that tops off the experience without causing a bitter taste. Imagine a delicious traditional Saison, yet even more refreshing.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2013 Belgian yeast, citrus, and candy sugar in the aroma. Flavor is sweet and spicy. The lemon ginger is there but not overpowering. A little hop bitterness and some alcohol in the finish for balance. Not sure why this is rated so low--this is a really solid beer.

Bottle thanks to Nathan. Pours a cloudy yellow with small frothy white head that lasts. The aroma is strong giner, lemon peel, floral. Medium mouth, similar flavors to nose, hides alcohol well, fruity, very good.

Pour is a hazy orange with a average white head. Aroma is estery and fruity bubblegum with some ginger. Did not get any lemon. Flavor starts out fruity with some yeasty esters and a minor ginger. No lemon again just a slight tart bitterness on the back end. Its ok, the ginger is not overpowering like some other ginger beers Ive had. Not really saison like, more like just a beer with some ginger in it.

Saranac Lemon Ginger Saison is a very lively, hazy, amber ale with a soft, elastic, off white head that is kept in place with the constant bubbling. Lemon and ginger are apparent in the aroma, along with notes of lemongrass, apple and black pepper. Its bright. Its pretty full bodied and reasonably smooth... until the finish. The finish is a little harsh and acidic. Yes, it tastes like a Saison with lemon and ginger. The phenols are enough to be obvious, but not overpowering. The ginger flavor is full but it doesnt have that dirty taste. It almost seems like candied ginger, but without the sweetness. The aftertaste is a bit bitter and a bit sour. The longer it lingers, the more it tastes like apple. This beer is a little kooky, but there are no faults. It doesnt seem to be a challenge to drink 22 ounces of this.

Hazy gold beer, little off white head. Light palate, dry and crisp. Dry creamy malt. Banana and lesser bubblegum ester. Mild ginger freshens things up. The lemon is tangy and a little sour and well integrated. Dry finish. All right but a bit dry.

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Bright white head with good retention recedes to coat surface. Lemon, yeast and ginger aromas. Sharp with sweet banana and yeast upfront turning to mild lemon ginger drop in the lasting sour earth finish. Becomes a bit cloying after half a glass... not looking forward to the rest of the bottle.

Bottle Ive had sitting around my beer cellar for awhile. Pours a clear gold with a medium sized white head. Lemon and faint ginger on the nose with spices. Musky and sweet. Sweet citrus, touch of grain. Musk and light ginger tones. Musky bitter wheat on the finish. It took the alcohol to take effect for me to start liking this one.
