COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hop lover’s delight! In the India pale ale tradition, this brew is very hoppy in both aroma and flavor from the generous amounts of Cascade hops used in brewing. Look for a medium to full body and golden straw color.

Bottle. Very nice example of an IPA. While this isn't the hoppiest IPA I've ever had, this is one of the most drinkable session beers I have experienced. It was very well balanced, for an IPA. I was trying to get over the delicious Saranac Caramel Porter and was having trouble, until I tasted this. This is a very nice offering from Saranac. I will definitely try this again! What is up with the low scores for this beer?

Another steady offering from Saranac. Good hops, but lacking the traditionally good malting from this brewer. I guess it is an attempt to jump on the hops bandwagon. Stick with what you do best.

Probably the hoppiest offering from Saranac. Very little malt detectable, as the citric hop presence was here in full force. Some pine and minty notes as well. Drinkable to an extent, but would probably get tired of it real easy after 2.

Not quite my thing. Citrus American hops dominate flavor and aroma. Golden in color with thin lasting head. There is a touch of malt sweetness somewhere in there. Not my cup of tea.

This IPA tasted very good but it is made with cascade hops. I am not a fan of cascade hops. It has a nice golden color. There was no problem with it other than it is brewed with cascades.

goz (358) - Chelmsford, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 7, 2003
Pours a clear golden, decent sized white head, ok lacing, tons of bubbles in the body. Aroma is dominant with the hops, mildly malty. Flavor starts bland and watery, ends with a decent bit of hoppiness. Thin body, kinda watery, nothing special here.

hopscotch (11101) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 5, 2003
Sparkling clear amber ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The aroma is of bisquits and beef gravy with lesser notes of grapefruit, pineapple, buttered popcorn and carameled apples. The flavor is of grapefruit, straw and orange rind. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, dry, finish.

The Cascade hops are noticable from a distance, with their strong, citrusy notes. A hint of malt tries to slip through the hoppy aroma and is barely discernable. The taste is very hoppy, with strong citrus notes in the flavor profile. A very clean, lemon zest character shines through, with just a touch of malt on the finish. The finish has no harsh bitterness, just smooth hops with that touch of malt.

Medium size, offwhite head, some sticky lacing. Clear gold with an orange hue. Hoppy, inky nose. Medium body. Tame hop flavor with an equally tame maltiness. Needs More hops all around.
