COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hop lover’s delight! In the India pale ale tradition, this brew is very hoppy in both aroma and flavor from the generous amounts of Cascade hops used in brewing. Look for a medium to full body and golden straw color.

Not very hoppy, for an IPA. I've had some pale ales hoppier than this. Aside from that, there's really not much else to the beer, so I don't think it's very good.

Pasteurization killing flavor...damn it. Earthy nose, slome wood characteristics, slightly floral. Big white foamy head. Lovely golden hue. Looks good...Flavor is lacking. Malts first, but it just doesnt develop. Light bodied, thin, nothing happens in the finish except for some bitter hints, then the taste of wet socks. Saranac is disappointing me...

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2003 Nice looking IPA. The nose is woody/earthy. The palate is a prime example of a beer that has been ruined by pasteurization. Astringent bitterness. Watery and weak.

Simply put I'm a hop head and this IPA just does not do it for me. Like most Saranac brews it pours well and retains head with a reddish golden body. Lacks the hoppiness and spiciness I look for in an IPA. More IBU's please.

A good India Pale ale. Strong but not too strong on the hops. Good flavor. Good look in the glass. Nice hoppy aroma. A decent beer and a decent IPA, but not a great one.

A very mild but pleasant aroma - great head retention - frothy. Beautiful golden honey color with moderate carbonation. Hopped with slightly bitter aftertaste. The taste definitely became more tart and vibrant as it warmed up just a little. I've had hoppier IPAs but this was pretty good.

Not my kind of beer..............................................

working my way through the saranac sample pack. this one has a very slight haze, it's the yellow-orange color of dried corn, pantone 138, with a tight cap of off- white suds. peanuts, parchment and prairie grass in the aroma, (if one can imagine that), it's really all about cascade hops. flavor is edgy, hoppy, only slightly more captivating than a 'friends' rerun. it's not very complex. neither is my dog, but she's just fine.

One of the best of Saranac's 'pseudo-dank' beers. Extremely bitter, but like it's pale ale cousin, not enough behind the bitterness. Not enough floral hops or malty chewiness
