Pours a rich copper color, with a malty aroma. This beer offers a nice balance between the hops and malt, with a smooth finish, and a slight bitterness at the tale end. Brewbie (479) - New York, USA - JAN 21, 2012

It’s ok. I’m not a huge fan of real hoppy beer, I do enjoy a little hop som-n, som-n. tia (2160) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - JAN 17, 2012
Bottle. Clear copper with foamy dissipating head. Smells like bread and lemon. Very set. Hard mouthful. Sweet ness lingers. reggiedunlop (3718) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 8, 2012
Pours amber with a medium tan head. Aroma is very subdued...mild earthy/nuttiness. Flavor has nuttiness and roastiness...somewhat bland...a cheap sweetness of some sort. Mouthfeel is light and a bit lively. Finish has a bit of roast and tastes of dry leaves. Saranac is consistent...in mediocrity.

12 oz bottle, pours coppery red. This beer has a very nice appearance with lively carbonation and good head. Decent tasting lager but the finish is a bit off for me. ADfan (870) - Orange County, California, USA - DEC 26, 2011
Honey amber in color with a nice head. Aroma of bread and malt. Taste has caramel with a little allspice. Not a bad beer. Jow (3899) - New York, USA - DEC 26, 2011
Saranac brew #4 of x-mas eve thanks to brother in law winter mix pack. pours standard amber. tastes of toasted malt, earth, caramel, light bitterness and slightly sticky on palate. DocLock (10652) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 19, 2011
Bottle from Frank Smith’s out of a winter variety pack. Pours clear deep coppery ruby with minimal off-white head and a lot of carb streams. Nose is German malt, yeast, resiny hops, vinous fruit. Tastes caramel malty, earthy, nutty, with resiny hops late. Gets hoppier as it warms, and gains a maple flavor. Decent. jgb9348 (6198) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - DEC 19, 2011
Cola coloured body with a thick dense, tan head - actually nice looking. Aroma of pale malt, a touch of roast, a little sweetness and not much else at all - perhaps some cardboad. Medium-bodied; Pungent roasty malt flavour with some rice sweetness and a bit of soy sauce and other funky flavours following behind. Aftertaste is a bit bitter, a bit too puingent and not showing much complexity at all. Overall, not such a great beer - deep and strong flavours and not in a good way. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$1.19 sampled at home in Washington on 18-December-2011.
