UPDATED: JUN 29, 2006 This is not one of Saranac’s better efforts. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium brown color with only a trace of a tan head that fades very quickly. The aroma is sour nut. The flavor is also sour nut and light malts with a sour tangy finish. Fairly blah. pjk33 (390) - Sligo - Curllsville Heights, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 9, 2006
Bottle. Another one from Chris’ holiday case that I got for Christmas. Color is clear copper with lots and lots of lace. Aroma is non-existant... maybe some noble hops there? Flavor is fruity and hoppy with a little sweetness and a nice bitter biting finish. Body is light and carbonation is solid. Ok beer, but nothing to go out of your way for. roder60 (1289) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 1, 2006
Pours a clear light brown color with a nice amount of foamy white head. Aroma is sweet but watery with not much of anything. Flavor is very light and smooth, a very very small nutty flavor with a lot of sweet malts and a lot of water. Overall, i found this beer watered down and lackluster. jcwattsrugger (12420) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - JAN 1, 2006
12oz bottle-pours a light tan/offwhite head. Color is amber/brown. Aroma is malty, roasty then a bit of hops. Taste is malt, then some bitter shows up, but overall-smooth, a good beer and refreshing. xproudfoot (750) - Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 30, 2005
Roasty, malty nut aroma. Pours reddish brown with a tiny head. Shows some hop character. A little rusty flavor on the finish. Shows some character, it’s at least got some flavor and a bit of a carbonated, somewhat medium bodied mouthfeel, and a little nut flavor in the finish, but overall kind of plain.

Amber color with small tan head. Notes of caramel and toffee. Tastes both sweet and then roasty. Somewhat malty. Light-medium bodied. Too watery for a brown ale. Like most Saranac’s its got some good attributes but leaves you wanting more. Prostman (1077) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 24, 2005
This was not that good. It poured a brownish red color with a small white head. Not as much "nuttiness" in the flavor as expected. Rogue makes the better version. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 22, 2005
(12oz bottle) Medium beige head atop a crystal clear amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, nutty, light toast. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, nutty, some earthy, light floral, chocolate. Light-medium body. dp (608) - uniontown, Ohio, USA - DEC 22, 2005
very easy drinking brown ale. no real bite to it, but not unpleasing, a bit nutty, would consider a full 6 of this one Ritterkreuz (179) - Seneca Falls, New York, USA - DEC 21, 2005
UPDATED: JAN 3, 2006 Slight skunky aroma, this beer has a thick head at first and is a fairly dark amber for an American beer. A bitter finish to every swallow, this beer is best when its not quite room temp.
