3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured amber with nice full head. Lighter than many Octoberfests. Could be more potent with respect to the malt. Drinkable and surely higher than the rating suggests.
Bottle shared with Vi and Ken. Pours a light golden body with thin white ring of lace. Mouthfeel is thin bodied overall with notes of crisp malt, sweet bread and light spice. MarkSachon (1023) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 24, 2016
12 oz bottle from the sampler case. Like most brews from Saranac, this one was just about average. Pretty good throughout. Jow (3925) - New York, USA - DEC 11, 2015
Quick tick grab since no luck getting the beer I wanted today. Orange pour small head. Nose is faint grains and caramel. Tastes of similar light grains, florals, caramel touch of paper. Fine fizzy palate. Bland but drinkable. MadRobin (2988) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - NOV 10, 2015
Poured from 12 oz. bottle.
Clear, amber-brown with a khaki head and fair lacing.
Aroma of zinc, caramel and floral hops.
Taste of floral hops, caramel and metal.
Light/medium body and medium/high carbonization.

I prefer a Oktoberfest of this style moreso than others because it has minimal sweetness and a nice bitterness with that lager crispness.

Malty hoppy with a bit of lagerish funk. A bit watery palate for a malty beer. Not bad for saranac and flavorful enough beer.

While I found the 2014 version a poor example of the style due to flowery hop bitterness, the 2015 version is superb. As good as, and possibly better than any German import Marzen. Apparently the brewers modified the recipe by changing from "the pleasant bitterness of Saaz and Tettang hops" in the 2014 description to "rich, malty taste is subtly balanced by Saphir and Perle hops" in 2015. In a blind tasting this oktoberfest scored better than any German import among my friends. mstrcrwly (1000) - New York, USA - APR 8, 2015
drank from bottle on golf course years ago..not very memorable..why i forgot to rate it. jrodooo5 (1672) - DOVER, Delaware, USA - NOV 11, 2014
Wow! This is really bad! Bubbly amber pour w/ a thin white head & decent lacing. The aroma has some very subtle malt. The taste is dominated by a metallic flavor w/ possibly a hint of bitterness in the finish. It leaves a nasty aftertaste that really doesn’t give me any desire to drink more. Horrendous! rodenbach99 (4572) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 26, 2014
Bouteille bb jan 2015. Un liquide légèrement cuivrée avec une mousse épaisse. Un nez simple de lager allemande, rien de plus rien de moins. Une bouche piquante avec une finale houblonnée. Plus croustillante de la moyenne de lager poches.
