2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Had this one on-tap at a little beachside joint in Nokomis, FL this last weekend.
Came out a basic pale red with a small off-white head. The nose was really basic with slight grains, sweet fruity aroma of apple and honey. The body was lacking as it was on the thin side. Easy to down that’s for sure. Simple flavors, but nothing really stands out. Pretty bland - husk, sweet malts, sweet finish, mild bitterness. Are we sure this is really 7.0%? Alcohol not detectable at all. This reminds me of Yuengling, but actually not as enjoyable. I’d pass on this one in the future.
Draft sampler at the brewpub, tasted on August 15, 2014. Dark amber hue, musty/malty aroma, taste like the nose but with unpleasant astringency and some medicinal notes. Dogbrick (13012) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 27, 2014
Sample at the brewpub. Clear amber color with a medium thin off-white head that diminishes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, fruit and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, fruit and slight hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall. A reddish amber ale with almost no head. A nutty sweet butterscotch aroma. In mouth, a nice smooth Irish red with nutty malts, light British hops, medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, Jan. 3 2011. sebletitje (10080) - Enghien, BELGIUM - SEP 6, 2009

Pours amberish/brown, beige head.
Aroma is malty, some roast with fruits and caramel.
Flavor, roasted malts, caramel, raisins, toffee with some hints of chocolate and light bread. Overall mouthfeel is boozy though only 7%.

On tap at Sarasota Brewing on 5/24/08. Pours a golden amber with thin white head that barely laces the glass. Aroma is faint with slight spice and hoppy bitterness. Flavor is stale and bitter with a horseblanket-type finish. Not a pleasant ale to drink. Angeloregon (2055) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 26, 2007
Sampled at brewery in Sarasota, FL during 2005 spring training--Poured a light, clear red-brown with a fizzy white head. Nice lacing. Mild earthy, nutty, thin nose and flavor. Pretty good considering it was made in Florida. Tmoney99 (14486) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 23, 2006
Draft at brewpub. Poured clear reddish brown with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted nutty sweet aroma. Medium to full body with a slick terxture. Medium balanced flavcor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations were met with a solid drinkable beer. NYHarvey (2153) - New York, New York, USA - SEP 16, 2006
Draft at the brewpub. Perfumey alcohol, rich caramel malt and mild notes of dark fruits soaked in liquor make up the aroma. Boddy is a ruddy copper and holds a creamy, compressed thumb thick tan head. Medium hop bitterness in the fore huge dose of caramel malt along with mild chocolate notes, perfumey alcohol and a massive firm barrage of malt running all the way tot he finish where it ends on an alcoholy flourish. Tastes a lot like a scotch ale and probably is closer to that than any Amber Ale. jcwattsrugger (12420) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - MAR 25, 2006
