COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sometimes you just have to get away from it all and just got with the swing of things. Big Swingin’ Richard would do just the trick. This one-time release was specifically crafted to celebrate our 1,000th batch ever brewed since opening in 2005. The massive body of this 12% ABV Barley Wine is perfectly balanced with the intricate flavors and complexities of vanilla and bourbon notes from aging in oak bourbon barrels for almost 5 months.

Wax sealed bomber. Garnet with a dark tan head. Toffee and dark fruit aromas. Sweet and syrupy with a pretty terrible aftertaste. Just bitterish booze.

22oz bottle - pours a medum reddish brown. Faint floral hop and sweet bourbon aromas. taste was very sweet. A tad hot on the alcohol side, could use some cellaring, but not bad.

Waxed 22oz bomber share courtesy of dcschiller, thanks Dave. It pours with a clear amber to copper colored body that supports an off white head. The aroma offers up plum juice, plum meat, cherries and raisins mixed with molasses and then moving into more estery notes in the form of prunes blended with boozy heat at the end of the draw. The taste is smooth and sweet with molasses and then notes of brown sugar, raisins, prunes and cherries. It ends with a dash of malt sweetened roasted malts and then booze. Really nice smooth rich sipper where the barrel component is very light and wasn’t missed.

Bottle @ Richard’s Tasting. Hazed copper pour with a small off-white head. Peppery, spicy whiskey aroma. Sweet caramel, a bit of vanilla, and some brown sugar. A touch of booze. Nice sweetness of caramel and brown sugar. A bit of whiskey, vanilla, and wood. A bit of pepper, spice, and a surprising resinous bitterness.

Preface: I hate barleywines. Had at VIP event at beerfest. That being said, if you like raisin, this beer is all pure shriveled grape... from nose to tongue.

22 oz bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel, bourbo, vanilla, wood, ripe fruits, a hint of peat and earth with some mild bitterness to the finish. As this warmed the alcohol heat definitely picked up.

Not complex at all but it is tasty not too boozy. English style barlwywine with bourbon character.

22 oz. bottle shared by b3shine- thanks again, Beau! Pours a clear orange-amber color with no head. The aroma is hot and boozy, with toffee, dried fruits, and syrup. Flavor is the same with more wood and almost peat to it. Medium-bodied, with a syrupy mouthfeel and low carbonation. Finishes dry. Hot throughout. Pretty one-dimensional but not bad.

3.3
JStax (6997) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - AUG 4, 2013
Bottle shared at b3shine’s. Pours a translucent copper with no head. Aroma has graham cracker, booze, and fruit. Taste is more of the same.
