MiBG Summer Fest 2010: Deep brown hued with a small frothy off-white head. The aroma has notes of charred and meaty esters, walnut, chocolate, herbal and piney hops and some bready vapours. The taste was very similar to the nose with a interesting smoked meat quality along with an earthy and chocolaty background. Some moderate herbal and leafy snappy bitterness comes about. The mouth feel is a tad thin and chalky but drinkable. Overall a solid offering. RAYBOY01 (2011) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 27, 2010
Rich dark brown pour with light off white head that quickly fades. Enticing aroma of PNW hops, citrus and pine on top of a richly roasted caramel and toffee malt. Flavors are deep and darkly roasted barley malt, caramel, toffee, burnt sugars...and again those substantial hop bitter notes. Very refreshing and robust summer brew. On tap at the brewpub. Deep brown body, thin off-white head. Light nose with roasty malts and piny hops. Rich, chewy body, with creamy chocolate and chocolate-covered berries, caramel, and roasted malts cut by bitter, rindy, piny hops. Bitter finish. Surprisingly malt-driven, quite rich and very good.
