A British style Extra Special Bitter inspired by classic British style pub ales with an even balance of nine different malts, matched perfectly with a hint of smooth hops. ESB/Amber has a beautiful deep amber body and is a smooth, easy drinking ale. 13.9°

Super smooth bitter ale. Not a lot of bite in this bitter, but it’s a nice sessioner with a nice mixup of hops and malt. Nothing too overpowering, but certainly a nice brew.

Grumbo (3973) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - JUN 25, 2016
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Poured amber with a large white head. Light aroma of caramel, malt and some floral notes. Medium sweet and light bitterness. Medium body, thin texture, lively carbonation. Finish is moderately bitter. Ok but not really like an ESB.

Skyview (6099) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - MAY 27, 2016
Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, Minnesota. Pours a semi-clear light brownish amber colored brew with an average sized off-white head that quickly dissipates and leaves behind spotty lacing. Aroma of dark pitted fruits, caramel malt, floral hops and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied with flavors of caramel malt, some lightly raisinized fruits and a touch of toffee. Finish is semi-sweet with a fruit and caramel malt aftertaste.

Deep amber in colour Taste is a light citrus and grass hop bitterness with a bit of burnt caramel This was really disappointing

Bottle from Vinomondo, 19 High Street, Conwy, Gwynedd LL32 8DE. Bright amber coloured with a thin, quickly disappearing white head. It has a malty, toffee and slight tart red fruity flavour followed by a grassy and creamy toffee finish. Ok.

Keg at the Porterhouse, Covent Garden. Amber, a bit hazy with minimal head. Minimal scent too - a nice bit of gummy resin but you have to work for it. Sweet, chewy taste, with toffee and more resinous pine, although again there’s not enough of it. Clean, slick finish. An ok beer but very muted.

Martinus (4701) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - NOV 9, 2015
Amber golden colour, white head. Aroma of straw, malts, hay, grass, fruity notes. Malty flavour, caramel, straw, light sweet. Finish sweet malts.

355ml bottle pours amber in color with a finger of off-white head that settles to reveal only a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and light roasted grains with some mild chocolate and citrus. Taste is a light citrus and grass hop bitterness with a bit of toasted notes and chocolate and caramel malty sweetness. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a nicely flavoured brew that is enjoyable and worth checking out.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2016 Medium to bold body, with an aroma of pineapple, rye bread graininess nettles with holiday fruitcake spices in the mouth feel which is slightly more noticeable after a short pause or later sips.

Rating #1207 - 29.07.2014 - Another advance from Saugatuck. Pours a deep golden amber colour with a foamy off-white head that dissipates slowly, medium-strong retention. Aroma is mild grass, mild honey. Hop presence is significant, giving the bitter character with a hint of toffee honey sweetness. Well balanced, medium bodied ale that is easy to drink. Cheers.

Drjohnrock (841) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 9, 2015
Twelve ounce bottle from Saugatuck sampler 12 pack purchased at Jeff’s Marathon, tasted on September 13, 2015. Very dark brown amber hue, aroma more like an amber than an ESB, flavor has some ESB character but more like an amber with an attitude. Not bad but might have been a bit old.
