5/18/2007: Amber color with a large, dense, foamy white head and nice lacing. Mild level of visible carbonation. The aroma is sweet and earthy with some syrup and citrus present. At first the flavor is sweet light malts. Then it moves into a nice moderate bitterness through to the finish. This beer seems strong, but the there isn’t any alcohol in the flavor. Medium-light body. Smooth texture with a touch of creaminess to it. A well-crafted Maibock (which is quite a complement from me since I generally don’t care for too many Mai/Heller Bock beers!).
Draught sample (6.5% ABV) at Saugatuck Brewing Company in Saugatuck, Michigan.
