Bottle. Poured dark brown tan head. Aroma roasted malts, vanilla, molasses, caramel, toffee, chocolate, Flavor the same as the aroma. BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - AUG 7, 2014
Had at their taproom in Douglas. Pours a dark brown. Smooth and roast. Nice beer. tmoreau (4501) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 11, 2014
12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass displaying an overly active, tan, merinque-like layer of persistent head foam, that finally showed a clear, deep mahogany/brown color below, with wavy cling to the lacing. The nose was a touch of plum, roastiness, milk chocolate, caramel, and light grain scent to the malt. The taste presented a strong, earthy, smoke & char bitterness, in a medium body, with carbonation that was a little too lively to fully appreciate the flavor without belching after each sip. Finished bitter & dry. Okay after it warmed and settled down. chinchill (5154) - South Carolina, USA - NOV 20, 2013
Pours with a huge, foamy head; so large my way oversized snifter could not initially hold the entire 12 oz bottle. Soon enought, this died down to a denser tan head that produced very good lacing and had a nice feel. The near black body was medium-full, very smooth, but marred by a bit of tongue burn as if the ABV were at least 3X higher. The aroma is quite nice and true to style, as is the flavor. Leaves a robust and lasting aftertaste, with dark roasted malts that have a hint of smoke but virtually no burnt element.

bottle - Pours very dark brown and smells of dark roast malt and a hint of chocolate. It’s a straightforward porter with the expect roast malt flavor, decent balancing bitterness, a medium body, a bit of chocolate, and a roasty finish. Pretty good.

Draft at the mitten bar. Deep brown with a beige head. Sour and malt aromas. Smooth and extra malty. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 19, 2013
Bottled. Poured medium brown with a tall, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up burnt molasses and dark cane sugar with vanilla and earthy accents. The flavor found burnt black malts, baker’s chocolate, and fruity notes with vanilla bean and sharp roast around.. finished bitter, roasty, and dry. Light-medium bodied with high carbonation and lots of roast on the palate.. hard to swallow due to the carbo.. OK overall. rumproasts (5469) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAR 7, 2013
bottle. deep brown with small head. slightly above average porter. nothing terribly distinctive about this, maybe a bit less heavy than most. TheBear11D (365) - Michigan, USA - FEB 2, 2013
The beer pours an expected dark chocolatey black. The head lasted for a few seconds but not as long as I anticipated. The aroma is malty but there is a hint of hops that hang out through the aftertaste. Overall the beer is good but not a standout.

12 ounce bottle. Don’t judge a book by its cover, and don’t let bland bottle art ruin your impression of a beer. This beer has all the looks of something you’d find on sale at Jewel, but I was pleasantly surprised by its robust flavor and less-filling delivery. It’s a dark, opaque brown with a continuous layer of foam and lacing on the glass. The aroma is woodsy and the flavor is unsweetened chocolate and nuts. I’d like to try more from this brewery because they did a good job here.
