Aroma is chocolate, toffee, vanilla, and caramel. Dark brown in color, 1 finger tan head dissipates, lace on glass. Moderate hoppy and moderate malts. too hoppy for a porter. Dry/sweet taste, chocolate, malt, light smoked flavor, roasted coffee taste. Palate is dry, clean, lingering, and moderately thick. Overally, great brew, but too hoppy for the style. Had on draft at Webster’s in Kalamazoo, Mich. Tastes of roasted malt and chocolate, but a little to bitter for me. An average offering. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 12, 2010
Dark brown with ruby lowlights and a mammoth frothy tan head that fades quickly leaving streaks of lace. Aroma of roasted malt, shoe leather, grains and light chocolate. Taste of mostly roasted malt, not very sweet with a mild bitter aftertaste. Some light coffee and chocolate notes come through. Mouth feel is a bit sudsy. Ok. zizzybalubba (1869) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - NOV 28, 2010
12 oz. bottle from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, MI. Pours dark brown with a foamy off-white head. Aroma of chocolate and light coffee notes. Very light floral hops. Roasted malt flavor with a clean floral hop finish. A good porter. Tmoney99 (14480) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 16, 2010
Bottle. Poured black color with an average frothy light brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium dark sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. My expectations where met.

On tap pours dark brown with amber hue nice creamy off tan head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, and molasses. Taste is similar to aroma with bready slightly bitter aftertaste. Decent. deyholla (11604) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 8, 2010
Bottle. Poured a cloudy brown with a yellow brown head that lasted and laced a bit. Aroma was a combination of sweet grains and roasted malts. Flavor was similar with some dark grains in the beginning, but finish is sweet with roasted malts throughout. Onslow (1495) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - JUL 26, 2010
Pour from a 22 oz bottle. An inky deep dark brew with two fingers of tan head that settles down to a half inch or so of persistent foam. Very dark and cloudy – held up to a window on a sunny day I can’t see through it. Held up to a desk light I see a dull reddish glow. Aroma of complex roasted and burnt malts. Exquisite flavor starting with great burnt malts and roasted coffee flavors, subtle sweetness offset by perfectly balancing hops that leaves a gentle bitter smack on the back of the tongue and wonderfully balances the maltiness but nonetheless presents a very well restrained hops profile. Clean, fresh finish with little lingering after taste. Palate is medium, satisfying and appropriate for a porter. Masterfully brewed. Excellent! On tap at the brewpub. Translucent, deep red-brown body, thin off-white ring of carbonation. Toasty nose, tannic, leafy, and almost tea-like. Roasty body with brown sugar, burnt caramels, piny hops, and a bitter finish. OK. Cornfield (5570) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JAN 24, 2010
Thanks to RAYBOY01 for bringing this to the latest Flossmoor Station mug club tapping. This poured a clear reddish brown body with a respectable white head. The aroma held some lightly roasted malt, dark caramel, and a suggestion of smoke. The flavor was faithful to that... until some toffee crept in that seemed out of place. A bit thin, too.
