2009 MiBGWF: Opaque with a solid creamy tan head. The aroma has notes of liquorice, prunes, vanilla extract, bakers chocolate, liquid smoke, peat moss, and an overall earthy estery tone. There is an initial strange medicinal note upon the palate but it does fade leaving behind a nice dose of chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit and a hint of smoke. The mouth feel is oily and smooth, the alcohol is noticeable and lead towards a warming sensation deep on the chest. While okay there is something not quite hitting on all cylinders here.
