Very dark brown colour. The initial aroma hit is sulphur with some sweaty old socks in the background. Thankfully, that soon fades to reveal licorice and coffee, which carries through onto the palate. Dry finish. I thought this a little thin for a stout but, otherwise, quite respectable. Cask (gravity dispense), Bedford Beer Festival 2004.

BF. Quite roasty and bitter, chocolatey for sure, and quite soft, really nice stout from a brewer i’d never previously heard of.
Cask conditioned - Gravity Dispense - Bedford Beer Festival. A black coloured stout with an aroma with starts off a bit sulphuric, but then the roast malts come through. There is good licquorice tastes as well as a good roastiness. Quite nice. Joeh (2049) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 6, 2004
Cask Conditioned at the Bedford Beer Festival 2004 (Wednesday Session). Sulphury, coffee, fairly interesting. SilkTork (5924) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - OCT 3, 2003
Chappel Beer Fest, Gravity. Dark and tangy yet light and refreshing. An enjoyable stout.
