Jet black, sweet throughout. The original RIS is good. This raspberry infused version pops with the fruit. Excellent. Obviously a lot of effort put into this..

February 13, 2014 - at Bar Hop - on draught. Black pour, decent creamy brown head. Very appealing if simple aroma - solid chocolate roast, plenty of slightly tart cherry, middling alcohol, not all that much bitterness (8-). Taste follows, more malt and cherry, but way more bitterness - really nice balance to it - big bugger, plenty of fruit. Slick mouthfeel, solid body, decent carbonation with a long dry roasty bitter bitter finish - there’s not much cherry left in that linger - solid brew.

Tap at Bar Hop. Dark brown with light tan head. Nose: vinous, balsamic sauce and black olives, chocolate... Yet nothing’s too pronounced, it’s all hintingly there. The vinous aspects perhaps most dominant. A bit smoky even. Chocolate, smoky dry, dried dark fruits soaked in red wine flavour. Pretty harsh in the throat, the somewhat acidic notes are distracting. Otherwise an enjoyable Impy - had a hard time trying to find the raspberries though...

Draught at BarVolo. Raspberries nicely add up to the solid dark chocolate base, gentle green hops, round mouthfeel with a dry finish. Pretty gross (yet funny) name, fortunately the brew is much more tasty than suggested.

VertBaconStrips (2397) - Blerkablerka, VENEZUELA - JUL 11, 2015
This is so so. Dark choco, mocca, raspberries, thinner than I thought, light nut, slight heat and light dry acidic finish. Sugar, cattle, eggplants etc.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2016 bottle 9.7%. Poured very dark brown with a thin mocha ring on top. Roasted malt aroma with a burnt sugar note. Full rich body, oily mouthfeel with a sourish bitter finish. Flavour notes of coffee, bitter chocolate on a malty base with a hint of raspberry. Nice Imperial Stout.

Very dark brown pour with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and raspberry jam. Taste of roasted malts, slight coffee, faint vanilla, sweetened chocolate and tart raspberries with a slightly bitter hop finish. Full bodied ,medium carbonation. Very interesting beer that really hit the mark, good job!

On tap at BBB (Ottawa, ON). Opaque black body with a thin beige creamy head. Rich malty/hoppy aroma with chocolate and roasty hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Taste is dominated by grainy and roasty flavors. It carries cocoa, coffeeish, raspberry, and woody notes. Ends with a good bitter/roasty finish. Very drinkable.

Spab (4006) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 23, 2014
Bottle at the Only Cafe. Pours a very dark brown with average-sized tan head. Aroma is tart raspberry, dark chocolate and roasty coffee. Flavour is big rich dark chocolate and tart raspberry with some roasty coffeeish notes. Fine, lively carbonation. Nice.

JoeMcPhee (9519) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 21, 2014
Tap at C’est What. Pitch black pour - thin tan head. Dark cocoa, roasted coffee and a touch of fruit. The flavour shows a lot of soft tart raspberry and a bit of peppery bitterness and some spice as well. There is a little bit of seedy character. Alcohol is present but not objectionable. Palate is a little bit thin with some light lingering bitterness. Okay - but could use some more sweetness through the middle to accentuate the cocoa and the fruit.
