You approach the solitary windswept pine as it sits stoically upon its tiny perch of Canadian Shield and you wonder to yourself, Why does this beautiful tree stand alone? Then as you step closer, in awe of its majestic splendour, a branch blows down and slaps you right across your face. Sawdust Citys Lone Pine IPA is aggressively hopped and bursting with flavours of pine and citrus, loaded with mounds of hops and balanced with a blend of 4 different malts. Like that truculent tree, each glass is like a pine bow across your face.

On tap, Imbibe, Kitchener. Yellow, medium creamy white head. Strong pine aroma - huge actually, appreciated! Taste is very dry and very bitter - as advertised! medium body holds it together well but this one is all dry piney hops - huge from start to very long bitter finish. Maybe a bit one dimensional, but it is a dimension I like! Well done folks, and thanks to Imbibe for having this on tap in KW.

Pours cloudy orange with an off white head that laces the glass. Aroma is pine, tropical fruits and citrus fruits. Citrus fruits, pine, and carmel malt flavours with a good balance of sweet and bitter.

Tallboy can from Asahiya. Nose of pine, zesty citrus, and caramel. Hazy orange/copper color, with a clumpy white head. Flavors of grapefruit, resin, caramel, and gentle bitterness. Thin-medium body (maybe a bit light for the style). Somewhat over the top with the grapefruit, but very pleasant all the same.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2017 Can dated Jan. 03 2017: Pours hazy dark orange, thick pillowy retentive white head, lots of big sediment goodies and rings of lacing. Aroma of pine, resinous hops, citrus (orange/grapefruit) bit of tropical fruit (mango/peach). Lots of bitterness with some malt backbone. Full/smooth feel, medium carbonation, and good long bitter dry orange peel finish. Teeters beautifully just on the edge of being a little too much, but has enough body to back it up. Admittedly, Ive had this many times and never got around to reviewing it, but always enjoy it every time. Tonight it stood up excellently to some hot wings and its fruitiness even came out more with dessert.

Clear orange boy, lasting foamy head, some lacing. Aroma of pine, hops, West Coast in character. The taste is nice at first, but I found the afterbite a bit aggressive in its medicinal bitterness. Like asprin. Over all a decent IPA.

Cloudy golden color with dense activity. Creamy beige 2 finger head, lasting around 20 minutes, with good legs. Flavors of pine, orange, grapefruits, lemon, pineapples, and herbal spices. Nice fruity sweetness with pretty sharp citrus. Slick medium body with prickly carbonation. Strong finish of tropical fruits, long lingering spruce tar tongue coat of leafy and grassy hops. Lone Pine is a piney one indeed, but not excessive having good balance here, because the flavors are not masked. Still quite fresh and having very tasty flavors. Overall very good quality craft.

Hazy yellow with an abundant clean white head. Resin, spice pungent nose and penetrating with s glow. Good piney bitterness which develops over the long haul and is complex with some sap, some citrus sweetness and herbal pepperiness. Intense but not extreme, strong but by no means brutish. Very good.
