You approach the solitary windswept pine as it sits stoically upon its tiny perch of Canadian Shield and you wonder to yourself, “Why does this beautiful tree stand alone?” Then as you step closer, in awe of its majestic splendour, a branch blows down and slaps you right across your face. Sawdust City’s Lone Pine IPA is aggressively hopped and bursting with flavours of pine and citrus, loaded with mounds of hops and balanced with a blend of 4 different malts. Like that truculent tree, each glass is like a pine bow across your face.

On tap, Imbibe, Kitchener. Yellow, medium creamy white head. Strong pine aroma - huge actually, appreciated! Taste is very dry and very bitter - as advertised! medium body holds it together well but this one is all dry piney hops - huge from start to very long bitter finish. Maybe a bit one dimensional, but it is a dimension I like! Well done folks, and thanks to Imbibe for having this on tap in KW.

Nice colour, great foam that lasted a long time. Heavy on the pine flavours but good balance with the citrus and bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2017 On tap at Craft Room, Opatovina, Zagreb. Shared with lovely Anja. Hazy golden, medium off-white head. Low hops in aroma, also malts. Fruity, tangerine, citrus. Toasty malts. Light bitterness. Seems a bit old. Body is light, moderate carbonation, light finish. Boring. 635310=2.7

Tap at Craft Room. Misty golden, white head. Aroma... Drops of lemon splashed on brown sugar with a dash of caramel, intensive, relatively. Er. Obvious oxidation, sharper and not as awful as they get, at least until vague yeast shows up... But hey, at least it died in an original fashion. Taste-wise it's not as bad, soft lemon and peach ice tea on caramel. Medium bitterness, earthy touches. Obviously way off, but drinkable! Kinda. Until earthiness kicks in... I wish our importers wouldn't even try to import ancient stuff. Sawdust City, I'm sure that you did a great job originally, and I'll rerate ASAP!

ogivlado (7955) - Zagreb, CROATIA - SEP 19, 2017
On tap at Craft Room Zagreb. Orange/golden coloured, small white head, mild piney caramel nose. Sweet malty, light herbal, caramel and some piney notes with touch of citrus...but all of that seems to be not so fresh. Moderate bitterness in the finish. Pitty.

andrepintado (3613) - Porto, PORTUGAL - SEP 15, 2017

Fules (1339) - Gyöngyös, HUNGARY - AUG 12, 2017
Közepes, tartós, tömör hab, borostyán szín. Citrusos, grapefruitos, déligyümölcsös illat. Grapefruitos, déligyümölcsös, ananászos ízek, némi fenyős aromával kiegészülve. Közepesen testes, közepesen szénsavas, erősen keserű. Kellemes gyümölcsös IPA.

kaserov (928) - Oviedo, SPAIN - AUG 6, 2017
