COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You approach the solitary windswept pine as it sits stoically upon its tiny perch of Canadian Shield and you wonder to yourself, “Why does this beautiful tree stand alone?” Then as you step closer, in awe of its majestic splendour, a branch blows down and slaps you right across your face. Sawdust City’s Lone Pine IPA is aggressively hopped and bursting with flavours of pine and citrus, loaded with mounds of hops and balanced with a blend of 4 different malts. Like that truculent tree, each glass is like a pine bow across your face.

HKdIPA (854) - HONG KONG - JAN 4, 2015
Can from LCBO at Ian's in Toronto. Slightly hazy golden-orange pour. Aroma is somehow fizzy - very orange zesty and hoppy. Good. Taste is more straight resiny orange peel hoppy, very bitter and sharp. Less malt to balance. Body is a bit on the light side. Good lighter, orangier IPA.

CacheManyHose (772) - HONG KONG - JAN 4, 2015
From LCBO and drank at Ian's house in Toronto. Cloudy golden-caramel with thin watery fizzy head. Smells of juicy fruity floral hop, tangerine, Tastes of orange juice, very bitter hop, light pepper. Body is bitter and a little fizzy. Highly bitter, somewhat unbalanced. Can see how they were going for a West Coast IPA style with this.

(Rating #6208)

Nice pine indeed. Somewhat corduroy again, decent herbal bitterness. Light sweetness with moderate to light bitterness.

blankboy (7833) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 21, 2012
Draught at Burger Bar. Dec. 21, 2011. Pours a slightly hazy orange-copper with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma of lightly toasted malt and light citrusy hops. Flavour is malty, with the hops showing up mostly in the finish. Reminds me a little of Great Lakes’ Canuck Pale Ale (with thanks to jerc) but with less hops in the flavour, again, they are found mainly in the finish. Average bodied. Pretty good, easy to drink, though a little tamer then I prefer.

550ml draught

unknown ABV

I tried this beer on cask on March 30,2012 at "C’est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a hazy orange gold swith a creamy long lasting 1" tan head. Aroma was pine, citrus, and some grassy hints and some caramel tang. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour has a lingering grapefruit bitterness that hung around long after the beer was gone. There was some cereal and pepper in the flavour as well.

shaynsawchuk (713) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 27, 2013
500 mL bottle. Pours clear amber with a foamy white head. Caramel toffee nose with earthy pine, citrus zest, honey and wax. Mildly sweet and medium carbonation, sticky mouth feel and a long bitter finish. A well balanced IPA, much beter on cask, but what isn’t?
