A big and bold Imperial Stout. Brewed with lots of roasted and chocolate malts, with a touch of special sugar added in to give that little something extra. Very, very black and very strong. Just the thing to curl up with while the snow flies!

Designed to withstand the grueling voyage from Earth to Uranus, Long Dark Voyage is a stout of the highest order. Ass-puckeringly bitter and dry as a bone, thus dark chocolate treat is quite dangerous and will sneak up on you from behind if you dont keep your wits about you. Youve been warned!

Last years offering was a mere 8.5%, but Sam boosted the ABV up a notch for 2015.

A fluffy tan head on a dense black body. The nose is chocolate, mild coffee and a tough of cream. A really nice balancing job on this IS. Moderately bitter coffee, cocao, dark berries and roasty malt work well together. The hops are there but a bit player. A smooth, rich mouth feel.

650ml bottle. Black in colour with a thin but long lasting tan head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruits, light liquorice. The flavour has lots of chocolate, roasted malts, some vanilla, liquorice, moderate sweetness. Roasty mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long and roasty, sweet. A really good imperial stout, high drinkability. Nice balance, alcohol hidden well.

can 9.5%. Poured near black with a tan head. Very sweet roasted malt aroma. Full body, tight carbonation, slick oily mouthfeel with a lingering dry finish. Robust roasty flavour, notes of coffee, treacle, smokey. A bit sour with lots of herbal hops lends to quite a bitter ending.

can. pours clear very dark brown if not oily black with a reviving and creamy beige cap, nice lacing. brown and dark chcocolate maltiness, hint of smoke, minty citrus and resin/pine; burnt demerara, cocoa liquor, very spicy - cumin and carvi; soy sauce - salt. moderate carboantion, medium to full body - oily; smooth yet assertive piney finish. tons of salty bitter and smooth milk chocolate. im guessing this years version is quite different judging by previous ratings. particularly solid big hoppy stout.
