A big and bold Imperial Stout. Brewed with lots of roasted and chocolate malts, with a touch of special sugar added in to give that little something extra. Very, very black and very strong. Just the thing to curl up with while the snow flies!

Designed to withstand the grueling voyage from Earth to Uranus, Long Dark Voyage is a stout of the highest order. Ass-puckeringly bitter and dry as a bone, thus dark chocolate treat is quite dangerous and will sneak up on you from behind if you don’t keep your wits about you. You’ve been warned!

Last year’s offering was a mere 8.5%, but Sam boosted the ABV up a notch for 2015.

Pours an opaque black with a little tan head. Smell is a whole lot of coffee and a bit of chocolate. Palate is medium bodied though lacks a bit of carbonation. Taste is slightly sweet at first then gets bitter with lots of roasty flavour, before going into a long lasting bitter aftertaste. Also some good alcohol warmness in the throat.

Leggera chiusura amara. Carbonazione media, corpo medio.

mariuspoenari (2954) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - AUG 14, 2017
UPDATED: AUG 15, 2017 Pitch black pour with a thin tan head. Notes of roasted coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark cherries, a bit of anise seeds and a bit of booze. Full body, low carbonation and a roasty slightly boozy finish.

AleRider78 (1411) - Winchester, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 7, 2017
Pours a thick creamy brownish head and has a dark brown appearance, almost pitch black. Thick patchy lacing. Aromas of chocolate, toffee and light vanilla notes as well as rye and sweet malts. There is a slight alcohol scent as well. Flavours of dark chocolate malts, coffee, nuts. The hops used don’t stick out enough as the malts are too much of a force. Alcohol is fairly strong and noticeable, but quite inoffensive. Nice warming sensation, lively carbonation. Slight astringent mouthfeel as well as creamy and slick. Great taste overall, an abundance of malts well blended. Good stuff and gets better as it warms up.

Tap at Bar Hop, Toronto, 13th July 17. Great asking the bar maid for a trip to Uranus. Pours black minimal head. Aroma is frappachino, dark chocolate. Taste is dry bitter, lots of hops, roasty malt, bitter linger. Classy, like it.

Had this in a tall boy can with Pete in Grimsby. Great can. Extremely dark with a short lived dark head. Toasted caramel nose. Thick but dry finish in the mouth. Chocolate malt. Delicious. F Avey---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from LCBO. 9.5%. Canned 4 months ago. Very dark, with tan head. Pleasant roasty sweet aroma, flavour roasty and sugary, strong molasses and slight licorice hint. A bit too sweet for my taste. Fine modest carbonation. Body slick and not very heavy. Finishes kinda sticky. Overall rather good, but not too exciting nor much to my preferance.
