Amber color with creamy head. Vulgar aroma, some bread, caramel and light puke. Dry caramel flavor, with a dusty edge; ordinary bitterness. Not the right malt profile to be an Alt. Quite boring.
A clear amber alt with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light grassy hops, grainy notes and light spicy notes. 2011-12-15. Crisp brown body, nice beige head and lace. 3+ Pleasantly malt lightly toasty malt, very light tang to it. Aroma is similar, very slightly nutted touched in the aroma and flavour. Pretty nice, malt forward take on the style. Smooth average plus bodied palate. Definitely one for a session, I didn’t love it at first but the malt develops as you go and I ended up ordering another. I haven’t had enough Alts to comment on authenticity, but it was enjoyable. Tap at C’est What. Amber pour with a tight white head. The head is tan and fairly sticky. The aroma has a fairly pronounced spicy/herbal character in addition to some soft malt sweetness. There is also a little bit of light spice. There is a little bi of unfortunate diacetyl. Very assertive minerally bitterness. There is a little bit of clove and soft dustiness. tap at beer brothers, ottawa. clear golden orange pour with an off-white head, some retention and lacing. intense candied oranges - barmaid suggested something more like hoppy froot loops - darn she’s right, now i can only taste that artificial stuff, touch of spruce and a lot of pepper, and miscellaneous spices that don’t blend in, doughy, lightly fruity toasted malts - pumpkins, hint of woodsy notes, herbal and grassy. some sweetness. moderate carbonation, light to medium body - oily, grassy-fruity sweetish finish. alt as in alternative. not an altbier. ackward. Smells like malt, has a very typical altbier aftertaste with a lot of bitter barley. Really good lacing. Bitterness has good presence, a kind of grainy bitterness. Decent. On tap at WVRST.
