2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pint: Nov 2006. Drank at The Crown Inn, Oakengates, a well known and loved Real Ale pub.
This beer looked great, sadly it went down hill from there. A very clear beer, dark amber in colour with a thin white head which stayed for the whole pint (normal sleeve pint glass).
The aroma was almost nowhere and nothing, the beer came a bit colder than I normally like, but even as the beer warmed up, only a faint hint of beery hops came from the liquid.
It tasted OK, a dry malt flavour, but nothing to shout about.
Very watery mouthfeel, nothing to it at all.
If only it had tasted and smelt as good as it looked, but it didnít!

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival, April 2006. Deep copper colour with a light malt aroma. On the palate it is slightly sweet and mainly malty, with just a hint of earthy hop. Not a lot else happening. A solid, but rather run of the mill session bitter (despite the dark colour) .

Quite frothy for a hand pumped cask ale. Amber brown liquid that is supprisingly clear. Fruity flavor. Medium maltiness, good dry bitter finish.
