Zlotta (3521) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - JAN 11, 2016
0.33 l bottle from the brewery shop, bottled in autumn 2015. Clear, very dark red to black with a huge, creamy, stable, brown head. Sweetish, roasty-malty aroma of milk chocolate, toffee, nougat, coffee beans and vanilla. Sweet, roasty-malty taste of milk chocolate, nougat, coffee beans and vanilla, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, medium roasty finish. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Not overly complex but quite tasty and well-balanced, thereby rather sweet without any fruitiness. Very nice! Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks tomer. Black with a light brown head. Roasty aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, a bit of hops and a bit of woody spiciness. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, with dark chocolate, a bit of coffee and a hoppy note in a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied. Solid and quite nice. MarcoDL (5134) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 23, 2014
Nice stout, with some roasted coffee and cacao notes and slight bitterness. Not very imperial though, more a double stout. ElDesmadre (3627) - Mikołów, POLAND - MAR 24, 2014
Bottle from Bierkoning, thanks! Aroma of bitter chocolate, ashy roast, notes of earth, dusty wood and some esters. I am missing more depth. Tartish-sweet taste, roasted and chocolatey but unfortunately also estery-fruity-solvent-like. Very ashy, light astringent finish. Not really much body for an imperial stout, with the tartness contributing further to a feeling of relative dryness. It’s ok but also somewhat disappointing.
