Cloudy red-brown coloured with a huge off-white head.
Fruity and light roasted aroma of liquorice and hay.
Malty flavour of hay, liquorice and hops with notes of caramel and roasted notes.
Roasted and hoppy finish.
Transparently black appearance. Roasty fruity aroma. Softly malty, medium bodied with medium sweetness. A bit roasty. Salty finish with medium bitterness. A well balanced schwarzbier, plain but delicious. Thanks jbrus for this and all the other good beers you sent me!

Bottle from Bier Koning.Very dark brown beer. Tidy tan head. Light palate. Creamy dark malt with a light roasted touch. Some minerals at the finish. Just a little fruit buried underneath. Okay.
Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a cloudy brown with a rich and lacing off-white head. Subtle roast in the nose and quite some chocolate. Medium body, roasty with some malt bitterness. Decent alright. 171111 Oakes (19031) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 23, 2002
Cloudy brown; thin and slightly metallic palate. Sweet creamy and milk chocolatey notes, but for me it needs more. MiP (15981) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2007
Bottle, 5%. Metallic aroma. Almost black colour, small light brown head. Fruity flavour, turns a little roasted. Gets a hint of liquorice as it warms up, but still very thin. Thin mouthfeel. Disappointing. bierkoning (13747) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - FEB 13, 2003
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2005 Slight licorice aroma. No head. Roasted malt flavor with blackcurrant and apple. A typical smooth german-type schwarzbier. Rather thin and not abundant with flavor, but still a very nice beer.
Re-rate 15 months past best before date. Porto, pepper and licorice in both aroma and flavor. Rather thin. Some grapes. Salmiac. This beer has kept itself wonderfully well.
