Tap @ at source. Pours hazy amber with a white head. Aroma of bready malts, minerals, slight grassy hops, light honey, faint dried fruits, a note of herbal hops. Draft. Murky dark brown in colour. Very malty; roasty (slightly burnt) malts, caramel. Smooth. Roast malty flavours dominate with a sour bitter edge. Dry finish. Very drinkable. (2008)

Vom fass at Will Gasthof in Dec. 2013: Served too cold. Slightly hazy garnet with a rusty glimmer. Creamy dirty-white foam. Earthy malt, pumpernickel bread, hazelnut, licorice, and a dulling hint of Red Delicious apple encompass the nose. Fairly candyish. Snug carbonation. Thinnish body. Richly malty and earthy with assertive breadcrust flavors. Woody hop punch stands up to the sturdy melanoidins and bouncy tobacco. Well-detailed malt is laced with bitter chocolate, with delectable toffee emerging to enrich the earthier, more rustic maltiness. Quite candyish and chewy. Stiff punch of licorice hops pillars the core as it dovetails with firm minerals. Subtle pecan skin flavors contribute to the malt intricacy. Plum skin fruitiness does take a toll on the body as it warms up, lending an acidity which hampers the ripeness of the malt. Finishes with hazelnut and nougat fluffiness, with notes of licorice and plum skin lingering. Dark cola brown with a faint haze.
Toasty / bready malt, hint of roast suggested, more cookie-like in the mouth.
Medium-body, medium carbonation, low acidity, watery, maybe a tad sour (stale yeast).
A simple and sweet malt-driven dunkles landbier suffering from slight dirtiness (yeast powder, burnt grains).
