Dark brown color, huge beige head. Aroma has dark caramel, coffee, earth, HP sauce and dark bread. Medium-bodied. Caramel, dark chocolate, dark malts, alcohol and dates in the flavor. Light hoppy note. Semi-sweet dubbel. Decent classic Belgian style dubbel.
Starts off well pouring deep ruby-brown with stewed plums, bruised pears and candy sugar on the nose. The flavour however is full of higher alcohols, slightly solvent and far too much pear- a shame. Fairly thin bodied too. zacgillbanks (5441) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - MAR 17, 2012
Bottle from Rehills in Newcastle. Very dark hazy brown with ruby red highlights. It has a creamy red fruity and candy sugar flavour with a sweet sugary slight tart finish. Thompson (710) - - MAR 6, 2012
Small compact beige head.. dark brown with a dark red glow... good smell, not to distinctive. 6,5% only wrak taste of the alcohol. suprisingly fresh taste. drunk at the buitenlust

Small bottle. Hazy dark brown body, medium tall creamy head. Sweet raisiny and caramelly aroma. A bit thin palate but with good carbonation. Taste has toffee, raisins, caramel. Toasty finish. Nicely done but not very interesting. However, you can’t mess around too much within the limits of a classic style so it must be difficult to make a surprisingly different Abbey Dubbel anyway. A very dark brown color with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with main notes of berries. The flavor is sweet with notes of berries and some spicy. The body is somehow light. drfood (26) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 2, 2012
Bottle purchased at Beer Temple, Brussels, E 2.25. Caramel aroma completely dominates some minor fruit notes. Pours a cloudy brown with short-lived head. The taste is medium to heavily sweet in keeping with the aroma. Body is a bit light for a dubble but in keeping with the alcohol and the finish is-as you’d expect-sticky and short. Maybe not a bad beer for dessert. sfhodense (4788) - Odense NØ, DENMARK - JAN 11, 2012
Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, bubblegum, sugar and light fruit. Flavour is caramel, bubblegum, dry and light fruit. stobbe74 (3789) - DENMARK - DEC 17, 2011
