330 ml bottle, just purchased but appears to be a 2006 vintage! Seal is ok but carbonation is low and theres a large amount of sediment. The beer could be fine anyway, and the aroma suggests that it is. The aroma also reveals a high ABV, as does the taste and feel. In fact, on a sensory basis the ABV seems more like 11%. The aroma also has a prominent dark fruit note. The flavor is also fruity, but with a hint of peat and a moment of moderate bitterness at the finish. Mild, fruity and lightly earthy aftertaste. O: Rating given a very small boost (+1-2) to compensate for apparent age.

Excellent beer specially made for the village of Spaarndam where Hans Brinker put his finger in the dyke to stop a flood (Mary Mapes Dodge). Be warned: the alcohol is fierce in this beer, three is more then enough for people under 100kg.

330 ml bottle into chalice, no bottle dating(060589 on the back?). Pours cloudy orange amber color with a small frothy 1 finger off white head with ok retention, that reduces to a a ring of lace. Light spotty lacing clings to the glass; minimal carbonation streaming up. Aromas of pear, apple, peach, honey, candi sugar, bread, caramel, pepper, herbal, earth, and yeast spiciness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity; a touch too sweet but they work well. Taste of pear, apple, honey, peach, candi sugar, biscuit, herbal, nuttiness, earth, and light toast. Lingering notes of light fruit, biscuit, honey, candi sugar, caramel, earth, and light herbal on the finish for a good bit. Nice flavor balance and complexity; not cloyingly sweet at all surprisingly. Minimal carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly slick and creamy mouthfeel that is ok. Drinks surprisingly smooth with barely any carbonation. Alcohol is very well hidden with pretty much zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a quite nice Tripel despite very low carbonation. Very balanced with good complexity; and very smooth to sip on. Likely old, but I am sure a fresh bottle would turn out to be a great brew; provided it was well carbonated.

750 mL bottle. Pours deep gold with sturdy white head and tons of floaties. The aroma is light sweet malt (the sort that reminds me in a way of Baltic malt liquors), a very herbal note that resembles Earl Grey tea, and a yeasty cookie note. The flavor is malty sweet with some fruity notes and a strong herbal tea hint. The finish is yeasty and cookie-like. Robust mouthfeel. Drinkable, but sweeter than I would prefer.

Cloudy gold beer. Pretty flat. A notably sweet start followed by a malty fruit mid with a mildy bitter fruit finish. Spices? What spices?

Courtesy of bhensonb. This hazy golden beer poured with an excellent foamy white head and a musty yeast aroma. There is a light candi sugar flavor that becomes stronger on the palate and a slightly bitter aftertaste. Its quite refreshing and pleasant and certainly interesting.

Bottle from Ledgers. Pours hazy dark gold with a very fine, very tall, white head. Aromas of kandi and yeast. Perhaps a little hop. Medium body with fine carbonation. Starts a little yeasty and malty, then a hit of kandi. And it does that each taste. Distinct timing separations. Eventually it blends into a nice mellow flavor that has a maple hint. Quite interesting ale.
