COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop Ruiter (Hop Rider) has a full, almost rustic malt body, and pairs Belgian yeast-driven flavors with American assertive hoppiness. It is dry hopped, with two noble varieties which add complexity, delicacy and a bit of funk.

33 cl. Hazy golden and lively body with a lasting half inch of creamy foam. Nose of citrus peel, bread yeast, resin, light caramel. Taste is bread yeast, funky and tart white grape must, peppery lemon zest. Some light earthy wood and resin notes, honeycomb, and a touch of alcohol bring up the finish. Light-medium body finishes dry and has lively carbonation.

Hazy yellow, white head. Nose is malt, spice, fruit - orange peel, citric notes, sugary sweetness. Taste is malty, slightly spicy, some dust, fruit and sugar in the middle of the taste, crisp spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Good brew.

Bottled. Slightly hazy yellowish golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, mild spices, some slight gluelike notes as well as some slight farmyardy notes. Flavour is a bit dusty, sweet malts, some fruity and gluelike sweetness as well as some yeast and mild herbal notes. Quite nice dusty and fruity aftertaste.

A slightly hazed golden pour with a white head. Very fruity hop aroma of apple, citrus, and a mild tropical note. Some definite yeast and spice notes with a slight malt sweetness. The flavor is very citrus forward but also has some nice floral qualities. Malt sweetness, a bit of spice, and a fair amount of yeast.

330ml bottle from Arden Wines. Dusted, streaming gold propping up a dense, rocky foam. Soapy, perfumed aroma with coriander, jasmine, lemon wine gum, mosquito repellent and honey notes. Clean, perfumed and herbal with lemon jelly and parsley-like citrus finishing with a satisfying bitterness and lingering bread and biscuit. The coriander is pronounced but still enigmatically Belgian. Turbo-charged Hoegaarden, basically. Like it.

Bottle at Gollem bier/eetcafe. Bartender recommended this when I was looking for something hoppy. And what a good recommendation! Very nice hoppy aroma. Quite bubbly on the palate. Good (in my opinion) American hoppy flavor; fruity and versatile. Once the effervescence settles, it’s actually quite smooth. Some sweetness in the aftertaste (malt? don’t know), along with the bitterness. The style is Belgian Ale, according to RB, but it sure feels like an IPA! Very nice, and comes in at a close second on my list of hoppy Belgians, after the Viven Imperial IPA . Also tried this on tap later at ’t Waagstuk, and it was just as good.
