Ruikt naar donker fruit, pruimen. Alcoholsmaak iets te sterk, had iets bitterder gemogen. Globaal gesproken had dit bier iets stouter moeten zijn.

Roasted malts, dark fruits, dark brown with a thin head, medium body, medium carbonation, taste is similar...not bad.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark red-brown with a tan colored head. The aroma is medium malty with roasted malt (toffee and chocolate) and lightly yeasty with a light fruitiness. Medium to full body with a medium carbonation, a light bitterness and a medium sweetness. The taste is full of roasted malt, lots of chocolate, molasses, dark fruits, raisins, nuts and some coffee in the aftertaste.

A bit of a netallic aftertaste. Seems also a bit too sweet. Other than that everything as promised, malty, coffee, caramel.

Taste rather sweet chocolate, coffee, alcohol. It might be hindsight but it has a bit of a seawater quality to it ( the oysters? ). No bitterness, taste fading quickly. Nice but as a stout a bit underwhelming and too alcoholic.

Gangstergafje (891) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - FEB 19, 2017
The beer is clearly a stout, based on the looks. The color of the beer is dark brown with a lovely ruby red glow. It isnt black, like some stouts can be. It is slightly lighter. The beer is very cloudy. On top of the beer a lovely layer of soft, creamy slightly brownish foam is formed. The foam stays on the beer for quite some time. After a while a nice soft drape of foam remains on top. Good. The smell is nice, but not typical stout. There is a lovely firm malt aroma, giving some sweet caramel aromas. This blends very well with a sweet, creamy yeas smell. It doesnt have that toasty chocolate and coffee aroma from roasted malts, which normally clearly identifies a stout. I also smell some liquorice. The yeast aromas are clearly caused by Belgian yeast. It is a bit doughy, rather sweet and creamy. I also smell some plums. It is nice. But it has a bit to much Belgian touches and to little stout. Not entirely like the style should be, but it is very nice. The taste has the same. There is a lovely licorice flavour, strong malts, some sweet caramel touches and a hoppy bitterness. Also yeast is clearly present. All is in nice balance. The beer is mainly sweet. It is nice, but again not stout-like. Mor Belgian dubbel or something like that. Maybe a bit barley wine like. The palate of the beer is good. Medium body, medium high carbonation. The finish is nice. It is quite long and diverse. Nice sweet licorice and some creaminess at first and more bitters later on. Also some nice alcohol warmth. I like it, even though I expected more toasty stout aspects.

Pours almost completely black, topped with medium small beige ehad. Vanilla in the front, with some chocolate following. A bit of fruits later on. Plums and black currant. Sweet start, a bit chocolatey with some warming alcohol present. A bit yeasty feel in the finish with medium bitterness. Medium body, silky texture.

guzgorog (819) - FRANCE - FEB 11, 2017

Flesje gekregen. Diep donkerbruin helder bier met grof schuim. Aroma is fruitig en caramelachtig. Smaak van caramel, drop en fruit. Jammer dat de smaak snel wegebt.

Bouteille. Couleur : brun fonc limpide. Mousse : abondante, beige fines bulles. Armes : malt, grill, caramel. Bouche : lgrement ptillante, assez sucre, pices, caramel, petite longueur. Pas vraiment convaincant ... une Imperial Stout ?
