Strandgaper is a real musselbeer. Its full, smooth malty flavor and refreshing bittersweet finish make it the ideal accompaniment to a mussel dish.

Svesse (8580) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JAN 21, 2015
(Draught at Delirium Tap Bar, Brussels, 24 Oct 2014) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of bread, tropical fruit and peaches. Malty, fruity taste with bread, tropical fruit, grass, a touch of candy sugar and a balanced spicy bitterness. Medium body, fairly sweet. Just what was expected from a Belgian blonde ale. Tasty and refreshing. Quite nice.

Weak aroma. Quite cloudy and unclear appearance. Weak cap. Tastes better than looks, however. Particularly bitter

imdownthepub (14469) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 8, 2016
Bottled, 330ml from The Spar Supermarket, Ostend, West Flanders, Belgium. Hazy pale gold with white head. This was quite a smooth, malty beer initially, there is a little fruitiness along with some Belgian yeasty notes, banana and pear drop and just a touch of salty caramel. Reasonable.

bierkoning (13297) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - OCT 28, 2002
A bit salty aroma with citrus. Yeasty, hoppy citric and flowery taste with apple and some honey.

leaparsons (10504) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 16, 2002
This is a light tasting beer in relation to its alcohol content. It is decent but lacks any great character.

MiP (15650) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - FEB 15, 2006
Draught. Wheaty, semi-oxidized aroma. Hazy golden colour with a small white head. Flavour is not very powerful, but OK bready, wheaty and spicy. Goes down quite well.

bluevegie (3073) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - OCT 24, 2006
Cloudy, dull yellow body with a decent white head. My nose is not fully working tonight but what I could pick up was yeast and malt. The taste is a repeat of the aroma with some spice thrown in. Inoffensive belgian ale that doesn’t really stand out but easily drinkable. Best lacing I have seen for a while.

altonbrownd (5898) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - MAY 29, 2007
Bottle at home. Hazy orange colour. Spicy aroma. Dense flavour with orange, citrus, grapes, butterscotch. Tangy and quite buttery finish.

Emil (6065) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 14, 2007
Bottle. A yellow beer with a big white head. The aroma is of yeast, light fruity, spicy, the taste is sweet dry, yeast, light fruity and spicy. Medium body with a dry finish.

MartinT (9852) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 16, 2008
My Bottom Line:
Nearly crisp straw malts balance our the minutious herbal, citrusy hoppiness, but yeast tends to obfuscate this simple Belgian-style Ale’s flavor profile and finish.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the cloudy pale golden.
-1/3 of the bottle is yeast! A little overdone in the bottle conditioning...It’s indeed hard to avoid the yeast when pouring yourself a glass.
-The body is pleasantly healthy.
-The yeast brings forth doughy flavors.

Bottle; best before June ’09.
