Pretty solid flavor for liquid cancer. Nice malt backbone, slightly bitter finish. WalterNoze (6) - Breezy Point, Minnesota, USA - JUN 5, 2015 does not count
Bad water equals bad beer. Contaminated. Groundwater in New Ulm, MN farm country is toxic due to livestock and pesticide run-off and saturation to the water table in porous soil that has been abused for centuries. Check the demographic data on cancer. arminjewell (9687) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - APR 6, 2015
Pour on tap, dark red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of grain, bread, dough, sour fruit, spice, hints of slight yeast, some trash. Taste was a mix of grain, sour fruit, bread, toast, some yeasty notes into a bit of earth, finishing slightly sweet. Something not working together well for me, but decent overall. mjmoen (552) - - FEB 3, 2015
Pours a clear red color with khaki head. Well balanced with caramel and malty flavors. A tad on the sweet side Obfuscate (579) - Minneapolis, - JAN 7, 2015

Tap at Winterfest. I don’t know how I have managed to go so many years without rating this. Medium sweet. Some flavor or caramel and tons of malt, with a sweet finish. I understand the recipe for this beer dates from the 1880s. BeerBeforeH20 (129) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 26, 2014
On tap, dark caramel brown with amber hues. Smooth roasted malt aroma. Tatse is malt driven, smooth and sweet but well balanced with hops. Very nice bock. asedzie (831) - San Francisco, California, USA - JAN 18, 2014
Bottle. Pours deep ruby-brown with sizable light beige head. Nose is well-hopped - smooth and appealing herbal noble hops make an appearance, along with just a touch of citrus. Flavor is robust and full of caramely sugars and toastiness, but also well tempered by a degree of resinous herbal hops notes in the finish. Excellent stuff.
