Lackluster amber beer. Not nearly as good as Mexican amber lagers and nowhere near the quality of Austrian/German Märzen beers. Another example of Shell´s inability to produce anything decent. uglyblond1 (177) - Nebraska, USA - MAY 27, 2009
At brewery. A nice rich amber with good head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Flavor a bit of caramel overpowering the hops. Not as refreshing as some in this style. A little weak on the finish, without a totally clean finish. OK. pj1855 (160) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - SEP 28, 2008
Pours a Dark golden color with a huge foamy tan head. Good lacing Aroma of malts and caramel. Flavor - sweet caramel in the beginning with a slight hoppy finish. Flavors are a bit muted or lacking. meh.

12oz bottle in Brainerd, MN: Wonderful spicy sort of malty aroma upon pouring. A bit darker than most viennas I’ve tried, but I’ve not tried many. Long lasting creamy head, which is surprising. The flavor is pretty well balanced between malty and bitter for the style, but still seems a bit thin somehow. Still, overall a very tasty and enjoyable vienna. jimmyh221 (157) - Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, USA - NOV 27, 2005
UPDATED: APR 9, 2006 The head was small and diminishing. The color was red and the body was clear. This was a smooth tasting beer with no bitter finish.

Bottle, poured into a Lager glass. Pours copper with a average size white frothy head, which shrinks away but leaves a nice white film throughout the whole glass, leaving little to no lacing. Looking through the glass the beer is clear of all particles with a few bubbles fizzing up. The aroma is grainy with a little caramel malts, no hop aroma. The flavor is slightly grainy with hints of caramel, there is a slight bitterness on the back of the tounge in the end. The body is light to medium with a dry/watery texture and lively carbonation. Overall a very easy drinker that goes down smooth. Northernbrewer (151) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - DEC 2, 2001
A nice malty take on the Vienna style. Perhapse a little dark but otherwize flawless and quite drinkable. mikenodak (150) - Fargo, North Dakota, USA - DEC 3, 2001
Good lager - plenty of malt. My favorite Schell............................ Bigsky66 (148) - Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA - APR 4, 2005
More hops than malts in this. Light citrus hints with a tiny bit of bitterness. jamrun (137) - Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA - DEC 15, 2002
nice red color, smooth malt taste, a litty nutty, finnishes with a malty crispness
