12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear dark golden color with a nice white head. The aroma is somewhat fruity, somewhat dry crackers. The flavor is malt-accented with very low hop bitterness. I am not getting much of the salt taste which others have described, perhaps just a touch in the aftertaste. All in all, this tastes mostly like a pretty good Kölsch, but not so unusual as I had expected. junkeee (22) - Edina, Minnesota, USA - APR 18, 2013
Poured from a bottle. Very light, golden, transparent, with a slight head. Aroma is also very slight, a faint meadowy ’Grain Belt’ aroma, not enough to detect any other undertones.
Likewise the taste has the a bit of the same meadowy Grain Belt when it first hits the taste buds, but the difference is then immediately revealed with a lemony yet slightly salty finish. So I do get the coriander and saltiness mentioned in the description, but it is not heavy, nor does it linger long.
I am not qualified to say whether this is a faithful rendition of a Gose. Often, in cases like this it is a balancing act to create a mass producible facsimile of a beer style that remains reasonably true to traditional recipes and methods. How successful Schell’s was at accomplishing this, I will leave for others to judge. I can say it is a pleasant beer. A good summer offering that I suspect will find its way to my patio often. harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - NOV 17, 2013

Light gold with a solid cap of dense white foam. Smells of coriander, salt, lemon pith, some grain and a little banana and clove. Flavor is nice and floral from the start, some gardenia, sweet honeydew and sweet pear. Some grain and banana. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation and a wet finish. Nice beer, not quite the gose I’m used to, but nice. CanIHave4Beers (4194) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - AUG 25, 2013
Poured into a Kölsch glass... this is actually a strikingly beautiful glass of beer, bright golden, perfectly clear with lots of tiny bubbles ascending into a big rocky white head that leaves a nice lacing on the glass. boozedude (2228) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - MAY 27, 2013
The aroma is mild & sort of clean... there is some doughiness to it, some lemon rind, and a good bit of coriander.
The flavor is crisp and very forward with coriander, perhaps a little too forward... but it’s not an unpleasant flavor, and not one that eclipses the other flavors of the beer too awful much. The beer displays a nice level of soft bitterness throughout. The saltiness is really very low, as is the tartness... but both are detectable. It’s got a good light breadiness without being overwhelmingly yeasty. There is nothing especially exciting happening here, unless you’re a fiend for coriander... but it’s all really well balanced and nicely put together... easy drinking but with enough flavor and subtlety to keep you thinking.
So what are people hating so much about this one? I can’t find much offensive about it unless you’ve got an aversion to coriander... which I’m sure lot’s of folks have. But it’s crisp and refreshing, it’s easy to drink without any real flaws. Pretty enjoyable beer all together.
Bottle into glass ..clear golden pour with thin white head..sweet fruit aroma..taste is malts and faint apple..not bad

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-amber color with a large fluffy-foamy orange-white head that faded and left decent lacing. The aroma was a bit tart, salty and bready. The flavor was tart citrus, coriander and salt - nicely mixed and with a pleasant subtlety - with an undertone of bread and Sprite soda. Medium finish of Sprite, salt and bread. Medium body. Pleasant. Ratman197 (15105) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - AUG 21, 2014
