Solid all around springtime beer. Easy drinking, crisp but a nice smooth malt base.

Pours a clear straw golden color with white head. Cereal grains, floral notes, and some citrus on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes clean.

Tap at JL Beers. Awful flute glass. Light golden with a healthy head and respectable lacing. The grain and malt presence is enjoyable. Mild bitterness mostly boxed out by sweetness. Relatively refreshing and pleasant. Surprised because it’s late in the maibock season. One of the stronger options from a lackluster brewery.

Bottle - fair size foamy head, light gold color, sweet light malty flavor, mild corn flavor - not bad overall for what it is

It’s absolutely silly that I haven’t rated this beer yet, I sure have had it a few times.
This pours as a nice looking glass of beer, clear, pale golden, with a big white head, & lots of lacing on the glass.

The aroma has that honey on grain on booze thing that is really quintessential maibock, although it seems pretty unrefined here, or unbalanced, or something. It’s certainly sweet smelling and it’s not unpleasant but it’s not especially great either.

The flavor is nicely rich, plenty of honey, plenty of nice pale malt character with a nice zippy herbal happiness and a lightly warming alcohol character. The sweetness is mild, the bitterness is low but well employed, and the malt is bright, the flavor makes up where the aroma was lacking.

perfectly enjoyable.

This is overall, a decent beer, especially for the style. Bready sweetness, some honey. Tried at the brewery with Vaughn and Amanda.

Best by 09AUG13 Light amber with a solid quilt of light creamy foam. Smells of sweet malts, hint of carbboard, artificial cherry, some sweet biscuit. Flavor is quite sweet, some herbal character, some tea, some grain and orange. Medium bodied with sharp, but fleeting carb and a moderately wet finish. Not my favorite.

triplehopped (65) - - AUG 13, 2013
On tap, clear gold with a small white head and a small amount of lacing. Aroma is a subtle but gives hints of citrus and yeast. A light and creamy mouthfeel with average carbonation finishes clean. Medium bitterness and lightly sweet. A hint of bitterness lingers. Overall, lacking in aroma which ultimately detracts from the experience but still a solid brew.

Nice flavor, really easy drinking and great on a warm day yet quite flavorful. I liked this much better than similar beers from some other brewers. Quite enjoyed, will buy again given the chance. I wish Schells had a wider distribution. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
