COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This allocated blonde double bock, brewed in the tradition of Munichs finest Maibock beers, is a full bodied, small-batch lager made with a blend of three specialty malts, and imported and domestic hops.
Ingredients: Pale 2 Row, Munich, and Cara Pilsner malts, Hallertau, Cascade, and Mt. Hood hops.
Available April into May.

Its hard to get around the metallic aroma this has for some reason. If you make it that far the taste is actually not bad, big malty beginning and decent underlying hops.

Over the years I have come to expect very little from Schells and this certainly lived up to expectations! Maifest=Festival in May? No festival I will go to again, forever. No sir, stick with the year-round festival that can be found in a case of Blatz! Pop a top of that junk and you are transported away to a festival of the imagination: your IQ will double or triple, that messy body fat will melt away, your muscletone will triple, and any number of floozies will be hovering around screaming out, "Gib mir etwas von diesem groen Wurst!"

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear yellow with a white head. Aroma is cornish to grassy. Bitter, toasted malty and light grassy. Medium dry and grassy finish.

Not bad nice our nice lacing on the glass tthe smell and taste is floral hops sweet. Had this a couple months back and finishing my last bottle tonite. You can feel the alcohol in this one. Light in color but fairrly complex vaguely reminds me of the hoppy Augusburger from Huber in the 80s which was a big fav. Not quite up to that but still a pretty decent brew from Schells. Good midwestern German beer. Prost.

deep golden with medium head. im relatively unfamiliar with the style, but the mix of sweet maltiness, bitter hops, and alcohol just creates an unpleasant mess of flavors in my mouth. from the other reviews, its clear that im in the minority in thinking this is pretty subpar.

TAP: Gold pour with small white head and no lacing. Nose is bread and citrus. Taste is malt, faint caramel, citrus hops.

Pours a beautiful gold color with a creamy off white head. Nice visible carbonation. Nose is of hops and malt. Nice and creamy mouthfeel. Taste upfront is malt, a little sweet like a doppelbock, but not as dark or as sweet, with hops providing the finish. A good maibock that pairs well with corned beef and rye bread.

Once again, Schells state that they are making German style beer, yet throw together another very average American micro. This one is packed full of caramel malts which make it very cloying and viscous. Drink it for the alcohol content if you must.
