1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Once again, Schell´s state that they are making German style beer, yet throw together another very average American micro. This one is packed full of caramel malts which make it very cloying and viscous. Drink it for the alcohol content if you must.
Clear yellow and golden coloured body with a nice, one to two centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of funky pale malt, a touch of hops, some cream and light cardboard and some very light alcohol notes as well. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong creamy and pungent malt flavours at first with a big dose of cardboard and funky, stale hops with a bit of alcohol and caster sugar sweetness near the end. Aftertaste is fairly straight forward with a bit more of the same flavours and perhaps some extra creamy, pungent flavours. Overall, a decent beer, and one that perhaps is worth trying, especially for the style. Neat to sample, and worth picking up if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Cash Wise Liqours in Minot, North Dakota on 06-October-2016 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 28-April-2017. Schell’s knows German-style lagers. Bready aroma, a little spice and earthiness. Attractive amber color with a moderate level of rising carbonation bubbles. Topped with a tall, bubbly, creamy off-white head leaving lots of lacing as it recedes. Substantial feel, moderately thick. Bready taste with a nice balance of earthy grassy spiciness. Some caramel comes through in the middle and finish offering just the right touch of malty sweetness. Very slight bittering in the clean finish. mrjaxson (588) - .08 Junction, Wisconsin, USA - APR 7, 2017
Good-looking, poofy head forms above a golden body. A bready aroma has hints of caramel. The big surprise is in the taste, which is a rush of sweetness over a medium body. Especially good with deli sandwiches. ozzy70 (1148) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - DEC 9, 2016
12 oz. bottle. Pour was golden, white head. Aroma was bread, dough, yeast. Taste was sweet, wheat, malts. Minnbrewer (37) - Coon Rapids, Minnesota, USA - MAY 12, 2016
More like an imperial Pilsner, but I like this beer. Malty and hoppy...but tastes like many others. Perhaps arbitrarily called a maibock to justify the high ABV.

On tap. Pours clear gold, white head. Aroma of corn, grass and malts. Taste of same with caramel and good bitter finish. Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - MAR 22, 2016
(bottle) Pours a clear gold color with a medium white head. Aroma is faintly floral and mixed with some orange zest along with honey-nut cheerios. I’m also getting some spice that takes the form of cinnamon. The flavor holds honey, minerals, spicy hops and a lingering bread-like finish. A little bit of Assam tea is in here as well. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is toned down. This is pretty solid overall. johnnymusky (983) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 20, 2016
On tap at work...solid blonde ale...great flavor....nice clear pour...tons of flavor...a little grain. deyholla (11606) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 4, 2016
On tap at Runyon’s. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges slowly. Aroma has sweet grains and sweet bread with a hint of hay underlying. Flavor has lots of grain and straw with a bit of sweet bread. BarleyFife (9) - USA - JUN 24, 2015 does not count
Medium body, mild taste, enjoyed it but it only stood out next to the three lousy pours that rounded out my flight.
