A fairly good American brewed example. A good mix of malty and toasty. Not as bombastic and strong as some. Quite gulpable. The hop aroma and flavor are clean, mild and just a touch spicy.

Heavy aroma up front Cloudy in color Heavy after taste Not great for my buds ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Al Johnson's Stabbur Beer Garden in Sister Bay, WI. for Fall Fest, served to plastic showing an orangey/gold color, with a presentable layer of tan froth, and sheet-like cling to the lacing. The nose was soft grain/malt, lightly toasted, with only slight caramel hints. Medium bodied, with good carbonation, the taste was similar, plus some earthy & rind-like bitterness, and a little dryness to the finish. A decent rendition of the autumnal standard.

12 ounce bottle at the North Hills Arts Center Beer Tasting Party. Pretty good but nothing more than just average.

Perhaps a bit unrefined, but a respectable back-up fall-time brew nonetheless. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2017 Draft. It poured a light brown color with a white head and above average carbonation. The aroma is malty with caramel and toffee notes. The taste is slightly sweet with a smooth finish.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a mostly clear amber with a decent off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, fruit, and some grass. Taste is the same. Nice Octoberfest.

MNAle (234) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 30, 2016
Clear golden-amber with moderate carbonation. Tall off-white bubbly head, receding casually. Aroma is nicely assertive with bread, perhaps honey, earthy. Taste is spicy bread. Not too sweet. Moderate-to-creamy feel. There is a little malty sweetness in the beginning that transitions to a slightly hoppy, clean, crisp, dry finish. Bread and hops linger in the aftertaste. This is an excellent American-brewed German-style Oktoberfest beer. Schell’s knows their German lagers, and this one is excellent.

superspak (6216) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - DEC 21, 2015
12 ounce bottle into dimpled mug, best before 12/13/2015. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big honey, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big honey, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of honey, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth and creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Oktoberfest style. All around impressive robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Draught @ Liberty’s. This one pours a clear fairly amber color. There was some off-white head that left a little lacing. Decent aroma. Malty, with some breadiness, earthiness and spices. Minimal sweetness. The taste is good. Malts, some spices, very smooth. A decent Oktoberfest.

jackl (8555) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 24, 2015
Bottle @ Cuzzy’s. Amber with a small head. Nose of toasted nuts and grain. Some caramel. Earthy maltiness. Taste is smooth and well balanced. Easy going. Nuts, toasted brown bread. Lightly husky. Medium body, soft carb.
