Deep copper amber with thin beige head. Aroma of peaches and earth. Big biscuit flavor, nice hop finish. Some milk choclate excellent! Wulfstan (509) - California, USA - DEC 10, 2007
This is very ice, smooth, and very flavourful. It is copper with a big, dense, light tan head that lasts a long time, diminishing to a wispy head and laving some lacing. The aroma is grain, molasses, and flowery hops. The taste is similar, being fairly full but light, very interesting and constantly teasing the tongue, with a definite malty grain and caramel flavour, with a flowery, grainy finish and aftertaste. It is smooth and tasty, if a little on the mild, sweetish side. 13mikey (503) - New Hope, Minnesota, USA - SEP 22, 2009
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2010 12 oz bottle. Copper color with two fingers of white head. Aroma and flavor are both sweet, malty goodness with an amazing finish that lets those notes linger on the tongue. Fantastic beer. GrainBeltGuzzler (249) - Goodhue, Minnesota, USA - OCT 16, 2002
Great beer, I never would’ve believed it had a vanilla aroma untill I smelt it for myself. Very heavy in the malt maybe a bit harsh but not too bad. pour me another bootful incutrav (577) - Woodbury, Minnesota, USA - JAN 22, 2007
Had this on CASK on Winterfest, and was super prime times! Much better on cask then in bottle, and i liked it on bottle too; one of the better oktober brews i have had.

Clear golden-amber with moderate carbonation. Tall off-white bubbly head, receding casually. Aroma is nicely assertive with bread, perhaps honey, earthy. Taste is spicy bread. Not too sweet. Moderate-to-creamy feel. There is a little malty sweetness in the beginning that transitions to a slightly hoppy, clean, crisp, dry finish. Bread and hops linger in the aftertaste. This is an excellent American-brewed German-style Oktoberfest beer. Schell’s knows their German lagers, and this one is excellent. OD40oz (774) - Box Elder, South Dakota, USA - DEC 12, 2004
This is probably the best Oktoberfest I’ve ever had. I had it in the Schell sampler pack which I bought at a great value of $6.99 at the local supermarket while in search of the ever elusive Schmidt. nealblind (1849) - Seattle, Alabama, USA - AUG 11, 2015
red brown pour plenty o foam. aroma slight minerality. Tastes fresh bread, cream, bitter, tobacco, wheat, very clean and balanced. rich malt flavor but it comes up dry and creamy on the palate. whiterabbit81 (244) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 5, 2007
Pours a beautiful dark golden with a good thick head and a lingering lacing. NIcely scented with caramel and a hint of spiciness. Wonderful body, very thick and rich. Good sweetness balanced with a hint of hoppiness. Definately on the upper echlon of Oktoberfests. detroiter (958) - Euphoria, Minnesota, USA - JAN 15, 2007
Pours a clear copper color, briefly topped by half an inch of light tan foam. No lacing. Caramel and toasted malt in the aroma with just a hint of cinnamon. The flavor is mildly sweet with some caramel and toasted malt. It is drier in the finish with a bit of hop bitterness. The beer is almost medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a lingering dry malt and hop aftertaste.
