UPDATED: APR 18, 2013 Big fan of August Schell brewery. They’ve been at it a long time, and New Ulm is serious German beer drinking country so they have to do it good. Their Pilsner is one of the beers I come back to fairly regularly, a 12 pack is in my basement fridge right now. It’s everything a basic workhorse pilsener should be. Hallertau hops, bold body, crisp, clean. It’s what you wish more ’American’ style beers were like...instead of being stripped of any personality. If you’re having a summer gathering and want something for the folks who are used to bud, coors, mgd, stock up on Schell’s pils and serve them this instead. Still a beer they can embrace, but so much more quality.
First beer from the bewery, history of the brewery very interesting. This is a pretty dry hop foward pilsner very similar to traditional style. euniceradio (525) - Worthington, Minnesota, USA - OCT 10, 2016

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2016 Excellent Pilsner beer which is normally a style that’s just OK to me but I could easily session a few of these. No skunk flavor just clean and super easy to drink. I actually liked their Firebock Vienna Lager better but this is good. If you like Pilsner you have to try this. jackl (8022) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 15, 2014
Keg @ Mimosa, MPLS. Light gold with a small head. Creamed corn and husky grain. Light epoxy hops. A hit of apple sauce. Nicely light and zippy. Lovely. A great cheap option. DW78715816 (119) - Kansas, USA - AUG 26, 2014
Excellent pilsner. Beautiful golden color, smell and taste is clean and crisp with a little citrus hop flavor and smell as a pilsner should be. If your looking for lots of hops and bold flavor you should be buying a double IPA and not a pilsner. One of the best pilsners I've had.
