Pours hazy orange with white head, aroma includes notes of rye, bread, touch of caramel. Taste is nice creamy caramel, bread, with notes of spice and rye towards the finish. Very interesting brew! Strykzone (7855) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - DEC 30, 2008
Mahogany color with a smallish tan head. Not a big aroma but it offers some nut an spice. Flavor is also of nutty malt, toffee, spice, and wood. Flavor is enjoyable and the feel is nicely smooth. Well done by the Schell brewers. wlajwl (7291) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - FEB 12, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2012 From memory, a very malty, unique German style lager. Has a very strong rye flavor that is incredibly good and is in general among the best lagers I’ve ever had. nuplastikk (6635) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 12, 2009
Here’s an interesting style. 12oz bottle. Sweet, malty aroma, not much too it. Deep amber-brown color with a nice off white head. Smooth and creamy, with a slightly sour Rye edge to it. Fruity in some respects, lots of mellow malt character. Easy drinking, relatively true to style, this is a pretty cool offering. JK (6393) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - MAY 22, 2009
Lots of yeast in this beer. I also taste rye. A little sour, and surprisingly, the yeast of a weizen beer. Good, like most years of Snowstorm.

Bottle courtesy of Dalzale. Pours copper brown with a light tan head. Smells of caramel, spice, dark fruit, earthy. Tastes of roses, some bitter hints, caramel, some sweetness, nice spiciness as the beer warms. There’s a lot going on here. NIce! thedm (6319) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - DEC 30, 2012
This $1.49 bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a very large sized head of finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a strongly carbonated transparent cola brown colored body. The aroma was spicy malty and musty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow hoppy aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of roasted malt and mild spice. A decent quaff-able brew that I would consider drinking again. JPDIPSO (6317) - Wauwatosa, USA - JAN 4, 2009
Light umber color with a hint of rudy. Smallish ecru head. Scents of german chocolate, dark caramel and sourdough bread. LIght sweet nutty start. Toasted bread rye bread in the middle. Little bit of dried floral hops. At times the feel and flavor seem watery. The sourness sticks a bit too long in the linger. Skyview (6115) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - OCT 3, 2008
On draught during the ABR ’08 in Minneapolis, MN. Pours a hazy caramel amber brew with a thick beige head that has some good retention and some spotty lacing. Aroma of slightly smoked caramel malt, some roasted nuts, powdered biscuits and some mild hard fruits. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of powdered caramel malt, a touch of tobacco, chocolate and light herbal spices. Finish is semi-dry with a good balance of grain and floral hop bitterness. badgerben (5388) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - SEP 30, 2008
Autumn Brew Review 2008. Murky brown color with a medium head. Caramel malt and dusty grain/hop aroma. Sweet malt flavor. The brew takes a very unexpected turn into a light tartness and some fruitiness, mostly cherry. Quite different.
