Drank at Christmas and afterwards. Belgian ale with spices.Slight tart cherry peppery floral bite in the nose. Bready smell great pour and head. Complex taste. Last year’s biere de garde was better but this was enjoyable. gopherfan99 (1996) - Minnesota, USA - MAY 11, 2014
Bottle, pours clear gold with cream colored head, flavor is sweet with malt, yeast, and banana, has a little bit of spice and hops to finish, decent balance hides the alcohol, good winter beer JK (6240) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - APR 9, 2014
Bottle. Some yeast. I see it is fairly high alcohol for the style, but this is hidden well. Well carbonated. Some fresh fruit and lightly sweet malt. Solid beer, but really more of something I might drink in the summer. Scubatrip (610) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - FEB 13, 2014
On tap outside MSP when snow cancelled my flight, pours a clear golden with a thin white head. Wonderful aroma of bananas and cloves, more like a hefe. Taste is similar, some banana, sweet malts, a lightly bittering finish. Very good beer. djroehler (290) - Minnesota, USA - FEB 2, 2014
Bottle. Pour is light yellow with thin white head. Aroma is some fruit, light grains, some spiciness. Taste is peach, banana, yeasty and toasted grain, lots of bitter lemon, some spiciness.

Peach and white grape aroma. Hazy golden medium fluffy head. Coriander, dry. Some lemony malt underneath, but dominated by coriander. Finishes with a subtle sweet kiss of white grape. Light body, alcohol well concealed. Drinks very much like a wit. Odd choice for a winter seasonal, but I like it. arminjewell (9689) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JAN 21, 2014
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of biscuit, bread, bubblegum, hints of coriander, clove, spice notes with a hint of peach, some lemon. Taste is a mix of lemon, earth, biscuit, bread into some chewy malts, hints of coriander, orange, slight bubblegum, banana, clove, finishing sweet. nuplastikk (6373) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 12, 2014
12oz bottle. Spiced Belgian Ale from Schell just seems likes bad news right off the bat. Bright yellow body, kind of what you’d hope to see on a Pils, with that grassy faint green tone. Steady creamy white head. The aroma is disturbing, Belgian hairspray. By the end of the beer, this was firmly in the Belgian Golden ale style, and I dig it for what it is. This was $5.49 a six pack, gotta love WI sometimes. BeerKurve (520) - - JAN 9, 2014
Clear Golden Yellow with a fizzy head, no lacing and high carbonation. Aroma and smell of cloves, pepper, spices, yeasts, bubblegum and some pale malts. Palate is moderate with some stronger carbonation; Kind of crisp. Pretty good! CanIHave4Beers (4194) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - DEC 23, 2013
Pours perfectly clear & golden with a good head and nice lacing on the glass.
The aroma is doughy, peppery, lightly fruity with some mild alcohol spiciness. Absolutely bright and inviting.
The flavor is doughy and lightly sweet, the spiciness is there but it seems to be more of a fermentation derived spiciness, that is to say I supposed that the beers actual spices are not overwhelming and they’re well integrated. Banana flavors seem to become more pronounced as it warms but are never overbearing.
It seems like there are a bunch of these strong & spicy/sweetish Belgian style blonde beers, I almost never think they’re really great but this one is very nice.
