Dark brown with a faint ring of bone white head in my glass. A malty aroma with a hint of chocolate and a very smooth wine character - not just vinous, but smells like a wine. Cereal grain and chocolate malts in the body and a deliciate red wine character in the finish. Thick and smooth mouthfeel. hair-old (191) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 15, 2010
The red wine barrels used for aging have done their job well.It has been a long time since I have tasted a beer that was not lagered in a stainless
steel or copper vat.One of the smoothest brews I have ever drank with a very interesting blend of subtle flavors.Lack of any real quantity of malts being used are obvious by the Dads root beer type of head.Too expensive for what it is. 13mikey (503) - New Hope, Minnesota, USA - MAY 2, 2010
22 oz bottle from Liquor Mart. Dark amber color, beautiful creamy head. Aroma is slightly malty with subtle cherry and vanilla notes. Very smooth flavor with some prominent cherry to it. Very smooth finish with the wine barrel characteristics coming through. This beer is exceptionally subtle in a way that I’ve never experienced before. Wonderfully understated and amazing beer.
