Cask at Firkin Fest 2014 at the Happy Gnome. Amber pour. Sweet, hoppy and smooth. Low carbonation. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - DEC 13, 2013
Bottle:   Translucent fireweed honey in color, soft carbonation, little sudsy white head, spotty lacing.   This one screams sweet Blonde Barley Wine all the way.   Low in hop, moderate malt, but sweet with a strong mealy/bready aspect.   Yep, on the tongue its like a very strong Blonde.   Needs to be a bit darker, less sweet, maltier in the sense of caramel, and with a touch more hop.   This is not American in that the hop aspect is minor.   This one is a big Blonde Ale, not chewy, but overly sweet.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full, and very sticky.   Too pale, too sweet, not enough caramel nor hop for an American example.   Out of balance in that its getting a little sickly sweet at times.   Ugh... even a 12oz can be hard to finish at times.   Thanks Bob! crossovert (14006) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 30, 2013
Amber ORange Pour, nice fluffy white head. SMell is intense malt, caramel, bready, and a huge citrus/pine hop presence. Flavor is intensely american in style. Big caramel malts that blend with huge hops. If you like american bws try it. Skyview (6099) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - SEP 7, 2013
Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, Minnesota. Pours a dark copper amber colored brew with a decent sized beige head that slowly dissipates to a thick ring and excellent lacing. Aroma of raisin, citrus, a hint of brown sugar and caramel malt. Taste is full bodied, some soft carbonation with flavors of brown sugar, caramel malt, a hint of almond marzipan, toffee and raisin. Finish has a more citrusy raisin aftertaste, plenty of sweet palate, with flavors of toffee, carmalized honey and some alcohol warmth. Age this one for a couple years and more brown sugar will come through. Definitely an American-style hoppy barley wine. CanIHave4Beers (4233) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - SEP 6, 2013
Pours an orange color with a loose-ish head and no lacing on the glass.

The aroma is brown sugar, marmalade, & plenty of booze. It’s not unpleasant, not especially complex either.
The flavor is sweet and bitter... not overwhelmingly sweet or bitter, but certainly more bitter than sweet.. There are some herbal notes, some burnt sugar, & orange rind. It’s got a light toffee character and is generally kind of boozy, but not really in a bad way by any means.
The beer is pretty enjoyable, sort of weird... but it feels like it should age fairly well... I’ll check back after a few years.
Bottle courtesy of Doodler (thanks Scott) poured a clear orange amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of toffee, candied orange, light sherry and light carm,el. Palate was mediuym to full bnodied and smooth. Flavors of toffee, candied fruit, carmel and light earthiness with a smooth lingering toffee finish. wlajwl (7117) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - JUL 3, 2013
Aroma is caramel malts, fruit and a small hint of bananas. The flavor is bananas, caramel/earthy malts, fruit and a clean/tart finish. As a whole, somewhat similar to a doppelbock. boozedude (2229) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - JUN 17, 2013
Pours clear light red with white head..musty citrus alcohol aroma.. Taste is a potent alcohol bitter with a long lingering finish.. nuplastikk (6471) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 1, 2013
12oz bottle. Filtered tan-brown body. Thin, oily off-white head. Buttery sweet pine aroma, not so good. The taste is a little better, scorched sugary malt. Kind of boring grassy, piny hops. Rather mellow at times, the filtration helps keep it drinkable. Not one I’m excited about having a whole six-pack of, certainly below par for the style. Approaching OK. Dark clear amber color with a brownish head, good lacing and high carbonation. Nose consists of caramelized malts, floral hops, mild fruity notes and toffee. Flavor has a moderate citrus hop profile, along with caramelized malts, toffee, barley and grapefruits. Body is moderately weight and the carbonation is actually fairly mild after the first few sips. Smell is stronger than the actual flavor but a good barleywine overall
